General Changed the colour

Oh yes, Broom yellow was the best yellow ever... absolutely gorgeous and the flies swarm around it in summer like you say!

My Spunto Porting (as my sister christened it) was Broom Yellow. Brill Colour. Nearly went with that strong mid blue colour that was also nice, but in the few days up to ordering her I saw quite a few broom yellow Puntos so went with this portent.

And wasn't that illuminated badge a really classy touch? You could identify Wolseleys coming towards you at night. As it happens, I still have the badge at home from my old 6/80. Now there was an engine - 2 1/4 litres, straight-six, twin SUs, with a shaft and bevel-gear driven overhead cam. Pity about the exhaust valves . . . .

John, did it have blue&me?

Not even a radio. But it did have beautiful cream-faced instruments, leather seats, and a starting handle. Column gear-change, too. It was a big, strong car - I put it through a three-foot high stone wall at 60 mph and the car then flew out over a fifteen-foot drop and landed (upright) on a grassy slope. Once we got it out of the field, it was still driveable. Damage was bent front suspension pillars, bent bumper, dent in O/S front wing, but no glass broken. We had no seat belts or air bags in those days, either!

My goodness! You must have had a jolt, did your elbows hurt two days later? Wow, sounds like your arms took the impact that a crumple zone would have provided if it had been there!
