We have been told today that Fiat will be starting to build our 500 next week.
If they are building just under 400 cars a day (140,000/year how long before it rolls off the line and into a container.
I am asuming 21 days from factory to dealer and then a few days prep.
Any comments or ideas?

Hi there

I ordered mine on the 9th of Feb and it arrived at the dealer yesterday, should be ready for collection on saturday hope you have a speedier service then I did. Good luck.:)

I was just speaking to my dad who works for fiat, and he said it all depends on what extras you have ordered etc, and it will probably take more like 1-2 months rather than 21days as they are in very high demand
From build to delivery is about 28 days, regardless of what extras are fitted.

High demand delays the build, not the delivery time afterwards.

Scrogg is there anything you can look up on your system for all of us that don't believe our dealers on build times?

Ordered our original spec 1.2 pop on Jan the 25th then due to the dealers cock up our car spec was'nt altered to match our order as agreed .

So after a bit of sorting (& a free upgrade to a sport spec ;)) ended up having to re order a new 1.2 sport which was i think ordered about the 26th of feb.

Vospers to there defence have been in touch today (with no prompting ) to tell me that our car should be in the UK by the 12th May and with us approx 2 weeks after that so not too long now:).

Roll on May

Yoshi

Ps Just thought that if they had'nt cocked up our order then we would be proud owners of a 500 by now .

Called dealer today to tell him I have my own reg. number. He says car still at status 10 nearly 10 weeks after ordering now:( Apparently some cars ordered after mine have come through, and some before mine havent and he says he doesnt know why:( They cannot give me an estimated delivery date and says it could be some time yet... well as long as it arrives in 2008 otherwise the retention certificate will be invalid.

Im guessing its because A, its a diesel and maybe a backlog, B, it has climate and fogs added and C, because we are dealing with Italians:) Oh well, upside is more time to iron out production probs eh?

Its annoying because he said it would be here in early April, he was very confident about that too:)
Now he doesnt know, and cant find out why its delayed... looks like the old Fiat days arent over.
I wouldnt mind if I at least knew why, and maybe even an apology but nothing. Good job I have other cars eh!

have you not considered cancelling it and buying a stock one from somewhere?

i think some dealers dont even order cars when you tell them to, so they can add them to later months to meet sales targets and just fob you off in the mean time. i meen come on! fiat won't tell you any info on you'r order you are completely reliant on the dealer and if they havent yet placed the order they can just say "oh yeah it's still at status 10 and we dont know why"
