Now.... I this is my first post so please be gentle!

I bought a BMW 123d before christmas, now it is a fantastic car, no doubt about it but and the big but is it was really expensive. As a family we have bought loads of BM's I got a really great discount and because they hold onto their money really well I can sell it for around what I paid for it.

I have really fallen for the Fiat 500, ok I am a twenty odd year old lad but just something about them really appeals to me.

Just got back from a drive in the 1.3 Multi jet which I thought was fantastic, really fun little car loads of character, they have found me a met black one with tan leather in stock with the bigger wheels which sounds wonderful.

I am really tempted, it would almost halve my monthly car expenditure and I have just got a job which is 4 miles from home and as much as I love my cars, that has to be a good thing.

Decisions decisions!!!!!

Couple of questions

1) Has anyone else made the same sort of move?

2) How are they on the motorway at say 70-80 are they comfortable?

Thanks and please be honest!

CHRIS

..Remains sitting down

Should have bought an Audi mate but I don't think you can go wrong with this little Fiat!

Bought a 407 sw sport 2ltr diesel (135) 7 months ago when it was just over a year old. Saw my gorgeous little 1.2 lounge 6 weeks ago and did a straight swap, losing 3k in the bargain and haven't regretted it since. I may also be mad though:eek:
The 500 has just as many toys, excluding cruise control, and the comfort is for me just as good. Obviously the motorway overtaking, especially uphill has changed slightly, but i can live with that. My worry that the 1.2 would crawl along the mways, happily, is not the case. Didn't change the car because i wasn't happy with the one i had - thought it was a great, high spec car - just saw mine and fell in love:D

My wife has swapped from a porsche boxster to a 1.3 multijet lounge she has no regrets as yet!

Thanks so much for the messages, I am going to go for a proper drive in the next couple of days so will let you know after that, plus I am hoping to take a deposit on my car in the next couple of days which would allow me to order something...... I think it will be a 500!

This makes me feel so much better! Just sold my 6 month old Civic CTDi to replace it with a 500. Nice car but ZERO character. Hope I've made the right choice! :D i do a rlatively low mileage and need the cheaper running costs etc...

This seems to be a "get-rid-of-ur-non-Fiat-car" thread :D
Nice anway, and no, I dont think ur mad. I had an opel for some time, got rid of it for a Fiat. Now it's not a 500, but a new Tipo is arriving soon for me :D:D Once a Fiat, no more other cars... yes it can nag, yes it can cost quite a nice sum in repairs...but - it's fun to drive! Most other cars are like completely detached from driving expirience...like ur playing a videogame. I do not like it - I like to drive my cars with lots of fun! So - enjoy ur new 500!

Welcome to the forum, no you are not mad.

I will be replacing my Streetka with a 500 Sport 1.2 which is due for delivery any time.

Whilst I loved the S'ka for its handling, it was impacting my wallet more and more. The £1 a litre threshold finally pushed me.

When I saw the 500 for the first time in the flesh, it was soooo cute and wanted to say 'buy me and cuddle me'. I ordered on 2nd February.

I test drove both 1.4 and 1.3 on the motorway. I have to say 1.3 is much better, more torque and very quiet. Either way, you can't go wrong.

Good luck

Audi just an expensive VW... silly cars:)

Audi are more than expensive VW's! Compare them side by side! Also there is little difference in pricing and as premium branded cars go it's one of the best marks you can go for when it comes to value. Audi cars (especially the TT) have the highest residual value of any other manufactured brand. Audi have been integral to many motorsport innovations including rally (quattro technology) and recently diesel engine technology which helped them win the LeMans 24hr twice in a row. This has helped them make history by developing the worlds first derv supercar (R8 V12) that can even sit proudly amongst the green car generation.

Please take note that this organisation is not 'silly'. But you with your ridiculous current and previous statements pottering around in a your 500 may well be. Sort yourself out!

Oooooooh - bit defensive there!!!!:yuck:

Loving reading the posts, getting support and belonging to a good humoured and helpful forum of other people who instead of 'sorting themselves out' are getting pleasure 'pottering about' in their lovely shiney new 500's without their ego's getting in their way and having a jolly good time laughing at those who 'just don't get it'.:D

Here, here! It's a FUN car.. if you are miserable and boring forget it!

Must say I agree with Pezz175, though my comment was only to say that the OP should have got the A3 instead of the Beemer, same high build quality but actually more space inside than the '500!

The fact that car for car Audi can sell the A3 for £1k more for each 'ring' than the equivalent Golf is testament to the quality. Suggest Nuovopanda takes a look at one, taps the solid dashboard and door linings, feel the fit of the panels etc to see where the extra costs goes. Anyone with a sound knowledge of engineering will know that the Germans have got it sorted.

I never thought, though, I'd buy another Fiat until I had a good look at a '500, they've come a long way.

ARE YOU MENTAL!!!!! seriously......???

I've got on..... Oh wait no I don't!!!! my 500's been in the Dealers after only 3 days 200 miles of ownership waiting on a new ECU cos it's on the blink. Parts on back order and I'm starting to forget what it looks like

the number of BMW's I've had with nothing more than servicing needed 5, ranging from brand new to 10 years old.

take from this what you will but this WILL!!! be this will be my first and last FIAT

Weirdo... :) an Audi A3 is just a tarted up Golf and far more pricey, so Audis are expensive VWs, fact. You go sort yourself out... mate.

Please don't resort to childish and defamatory name calling nuovapanda. I'm sure this forum can do without this kind of approach introduced into it's debates.

As for the 'facts' I'd suggest you compare the two brands yourself and then take a moment to decide for yourself why Audi are responsible for the VW groups largest annual profits worldwide. I'd also recommend listening to what Vic20 has to say about the A3 which sums up the truth behind these products very well.

...and as for getting out more. Well, I did a 60k bike ride with my girlfriend who is a national ranking triathlete on Sunday and tonight I have a 10k run lined up with my local running club. The outdoor swimming season starts next month and I dusted down my trusty Foor Quantum wetsuit only last night in preparation to brave the cold and murky waters and train for the London Olympic Triathlon.

In future please insure you get your facts correct not only related to this thread but others ensuring a concise and useful contribution to the other members instead of your own random statements. Take a look at John R Smith's posts regarding the 500....here's a guy that will benefit a great deal from this site. Not only does he gain replies to his interest in tech questions, he also has a good sound knowldege base useful to others and has posted a very nicely written car ownership diary.

So, taking a look at your mere 7 thanks out of a massive 3254 posts, it doesn't really say a lot now does it?:)

I've said it once and I'll say it again....sort yourself out!!
