Hi all,

The wait was killing me, AND I have ordered the wrong spec (too late to change :() and I felt recless so I've jumped the gun and done the deed! Waived goodbye to £500 and canceled order on 1.2 Launge from my local dealer and gone with my (new)preffered choice of 1.2 Sport in Mod Blue from Wessex (was in stock - picking up next Saturday :D) Very short and cheap holiday for me this year but hey, no regrets, as I'm getting what I really want and 12 weeks earlier than anticipated :D Picks will follow...

Any recless decisions you have made lately?

You might still get your deposit back if the car has not been built yet, they could change the spec to another car. I don't think the deposit is binding so technically you can get it back I think.
Least you will have a nice new shiney 1.2 sport next week!
What was the spec?

Well I'm awaiting on some advice on getting my deposit back, but I have received Vehicle Order form from them for the 1.2 Launge (not sure if that is what you ment with 'final signed order'- sorry first time buying a new car so not relly clear on terminology ). When I called to cancel the order and try to get my money they said that I can't get my deposit back as my car ' was being built' and as it was specd with EPS they can't sell it to somebody else as nobody wanted that!!!. They offered to find me similar spec but the 'computer was down' and if I can call back on Monday to sort it out.... TBH sounded a bit doggy and I have already travelled 100 miles to test drive the actual car that I was going to buy instead and couldn't face another trip leaving my hubby to look after the 2 year old all day.... So, I gritted my teeth and went for the 1.2 Sport I preffered and was ready to pick up. A bit impulsive I know but hey you only live once!!

Impulsive or stupid not so sure :D

PS. Full spec is: 1.2 Sport Mod Blue, with chrome mirror and side rubbing strip with 500 logo (the only compromise is not getting the aforementioned EPS but I can live with that;))

I'm pretty sure if you don't have a vehicle order form your deposit is refundable. Also from what I have read, ESP is quite a popular option.

Sounds like they are yanking your chain.

Thanks for the reply, I think you may be right, I'll await the advice and see what my next step will be... All this ordering, changing spec, awaiting the call, order forms, deposits... it was much easier when I was uncompicated soul buying an old banger!!:D

I think should get it back or atleast some of it. Ask for proof it has a fixed build date and still can't be altered (see status code link) and then maybe you could say well just give me £300-400 of your deposit back so they are compensated for their trouble.
