Hi

Never having owned a fiat before, im considering buying a fiat 500 1.4 sport, but wanna check a few things first. what is the engine out of?? the fiat punto gt and if so will the exhaust manifold fit and the turbo?? and what is the biggest wheels you can get on?

may seem like n00by questions to you but i have no clue about the setup of fiats

cheers tony

Everyone starts somewhere. :)

The 1.4 16v engine is used in a number of current Fiats Panda, Grande Punto and Bravo, Punto MK2B and I think the Idea aswell. There are management differences between certain models though.

It is a completely different engine to the old Punto GT engine. If anyone was looking for a turbo version of the 500 they would be better either waiting for the Abarth or transplanting a T-Jet engine out of a Grande Punto or Bravo.

As far as alloys go the biggest I have seen is 17"s but reckon 18"s may squeeze in. But bigger is not always better. The ride in the 500 is very firm to start with, and if lowered with very large wheels I think the ride would be come horrendous over anything more than a very short journey.
