Well, the indicators are a bit characterful on my 1.4 Sport as well. However, the Dualogic problem is certainly quite worrying. This gearbox has been around for about two years now, and you would think that Fiat would have got the bugs ironed out. I have driven one in a GP, and it was really very good, so they can work OK - but there are a lot of threads elsewhere on this site regarding problems with the auto box. Straight from the factory, it should be set up perfectly. Which engine is it that the OP has got - 1.2 or 1.4?

Mercedes can be very unreliable cars. The perception of German cars is, like that of Japanese ones, one of infallible reliability. Not so. A friend of mine works at a VW dealership and their problems are worse than the Fiat ones. Customers throw hissies all the time and the staff go sick regularly. Odd to believe, but true.
I'd avoid German like the plague and have something good looking with charm (not a word possible to use on anything German), character; and available in other colours besides grey, a different grey, black, and dark blue:D.

Why the switch from BMW to Fiat?

No switch matey i bought the 500 to park behind my Porsche so no one steals it :D and to drive the 500 to work where I'm contracting so I'm the last one they bin cos it don't look like their paying me to much and to stop the Permies bitchin at me :D

I had a 12 year old 7 series which ran on LPG however with the Gas prices going up and the fact I liked the look of the new 500 in Crossover Black it was a no brainer it had to go./. Motorbikes are my thing in all honesty (y)

SERIOUSLY!!!! what is it with this "Character Phish!"

Real Character is the wail of a Ferrari V12, The V-twin Rumble of a harley or Ducati...... (y)

NOT I repeat NOT the fact your indicators don't work properly (n)

really people come on :bang:

Right now for some positive news..... the Dealers have decided Oscar needs a new Brain (ECU) and have ordered one hopefully to be delivered next week. in the meantime they have provided me with a Grande Punto (a 56 plate with 13.5K on the clock) until I get him back Yee Hay. Girl in the Service Dept Cherylyn was very helpful and she arranged the car with the Salesman who originally sold me the car.

Picked the car up late this afternoon and was I have to admit quite impressed..... that was until I filled it up with fuel and tried to start it again. The OBC told me the coolant was too hot and to stop and start the engine again (or words to that effect) WHIT!!!!???!!!

I did as I was told and the Temp Needle went to half way again and away I went. when I went to start the car again 4 hours later it did the same. Hmm guess it must be that character everyone talks about

Its a known issue simply cured by a software update (see GP section)

I'm confused now - so which problems have been solved and which haven't?

They seem to think that the faulty gearbox is to do with the ECU so they are replacing it. Don't know if they have got around to the other problems......
