My car arrived at the dealer yesterday and I got my insurance sorted last week, however my dealer said that I cant come and get my car untill my insurance company has sent the dealer a copy of my insurance cover note because then the dealer can tax the car for me. Can I not go and pick it up now and tax it myself?!?!?!?!

The insurance company were meant to have sent the cover note on saturday but it doesnt seem like they have so it could be another week before Im able to go pick my car up!!

NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!! I passed my test 2 months ago and cant wait to get in my car and drive!

Nope insurance company havent sent it out yet. They said it could take up to two weeks for them to send it out! dont know why it would take them so long!

Your insurance company is rubbish. Usually they can get a cover note in the post to you next day, if you pay by debit card online or over the phone. Many Fiat dealerships are offering 7 days free insurance cover from Norwich Union - mine was - for purchasers of new cars. This solves the problem.

Cant your dealer tax your car on their insurance? Mine did?!

Either that or arrange the 7 days free insurance, that way the docs will go straight to your dealer by fax.

Npe i cant use the deaker's insurance cause it's for over 21s only and im 17!
Should hopefully be getting it at the end of the week.

The chances are that your dealer will be using their online system for taxing cars, in which case your insurance company can fax confirmation to the dealer and then the dealer will do the rest.

They did this with mine when my documents didn't arrive on the day they should have.

They're not supposed to accept faxed copies, but many do.

I got told my car was at the dealership on a Monday, he also said that without the insurance certificate he is unable to tax the car, so Monday night I phoned Direct Line and I managed to get the certificate on the Thursday and the car was taxed while I waited!

Although I waited aggggggges, it was well worth it :)

My dealer said he would accept a faxed copy but said nothing about a 7 day insurance

I am with Norwich Union and Coversure are my broker. Can give you number if want. They did my change of vehicle sent cover note to me and dealer and received the next day!

Good luck
