I have just picked up my 500 and even though I read my manual do not understand how the Air Con/Climate Control is controlled.

Bascially, I am unsure exactly what all the buttons are for and, if I have the fan and temp on but not pressed auto or the other air con button, does that mean it is just like a normal fan/heater in a car?

Any simple explanations would be appreciated! Thanks Gus

PS What does the dual zone in dual zone climate control mean????

if you dont press the a/c or the auto button it works like a "normal" fan + heater dual climate is basicaly 2 climates within the car eg: drivers side blowing warm passenger side blowing cold or hot windscreen cold feet thats how it is in the bmw anyway (y)

Thanks :worship: That's what I thought. Will play about with it more tomorrow.

So when I do press these buttons what do they then do?

I had misread somewhere that the 500 add on was dual climate control but it ob isn't!

fan and heat + a/c---the fan will just blow hot or a/c chilled air out at whatever speed you set the fan.

auto--- set the temp you want and the fan and a/c will speed up or turn off as required to get the cabin to and keep it at the set temp.
basically find what temp you like and the car will keep it there without you doing anything

p/s this only applies to cars fitted with the optional automatic climate controll and not the standard twist dial heater controlls

Thanks I think I am getting there. Sorry about this, but I have not ahd airconditioning or climate control before.

I now understand about the auto button. I assume the button that the manual calls climate control compressor button switches the air con on or off? Can you explain to me what happens in simple language if on or off. I dont fully understand the manual!

Thanks again :D
