Getting closer

My wife spoke to the dealer today and the car is now at status 40........that means its in the UK doesn't it......just need to wait for it to get to Northern Ireland now......

Looks hopeful for 2nd week in April if not a little earlier.

Re: Getting closer

I think mine must have been on the same boat too, as I got a call from my Fiat dealer this morning, to let me have the registration number so that I can get the insurance sorted out and get my insurer to fax through the details.

He reckons that it should be around the 31 March or shortly thereafter when we can pick it up. We are soooo excited....

Yep

Status 40 is 'Depot Unprepared' which basically means they haven't had chance to check it over yet.

Usual delivery time (on mainland UK) is 10-14 days from Status 14.

Isn't it amazing how many new cars suddenly arrive a few days before the end of the month?

LOL Isnt it just! Would it be worth waiting to get my car until after the 31st as I remember reading somewhere about something ending on march 31st sorry to be so vague(been long day) so will there be say better finance deals or offers etc after then if I havent paid for my car?or would that just apply to people who are reserving a car from April 1st?Hope you can understand what I mean cos I barely can

The only thing that ends on March 31st is Quarter 1!

Fiat don't announce their Quarter 2 (April-June) offers to the dealer network until April 3rd, so at the moment it's impossible to tell.

Saying that, there are currently no offers on the 500, so if they introduce anything it could be seen as 'better' than what is available to those taking delivery in March.

It's up to you whether you let your dealership register your car this month or not, but remember that any part-exchange value will be for March, so will change (go down) if you wait.

Re: Getting closer

Another thing that ends on the 31st are Fiat's 'great deals' on finance, Fiat i-Deal, 50 to 500 and 500p per day.

We can only hope they can come up with something rather more enticing from April.

I can guarantee they won't be ending, even without knowing what the Q2 offers are...

...and I can't see them getting any better with sales going as well as they are.

I wonder what the take up on these deals have been?

I would at least expect some rebranding assuming the adoption hasn't been that great and perhaps an addition or two.

Usually one a week, on Friday.

The cars then sit on the docks until they are checked in on Monday, which is why the 'estimated arrival in the UK' date is always a Monday.

uh huh, that makes sense. mine was estimated on the 24th which turned out to be a bank holiday though. now i am not sure whats going on.
i hope you can with me with this question.. when i went in to buy the car, i dealt with someone who was the regional business manager who also worked on the finance deals etc. however he is hardly at the dealer (he hops from dealer to dealer) which i placed my order with. when i went into the dealer to add options like esp and leather i had to speak to another salemen there who i have tried to keep contact with since. should i be dealing with him or with the first guy i placed the order with? maybe the reason i can't get any info from my dealer is because im speaking with the wrong person?? it's just everytime i ask for this regional guy they tell me he is at another dealer??

Pretty much every dealership works the same way, in that whoever takes the order carries on with it right through to handover as they will get the commission for selling the car, but this could be a rare exception.

I would guess that the reason you ordered your car through the 'Regional Business Manager' (don't you just love the titles some people get? ) was because everyone else was busy, and that he would have handed your order to one of the Sales Execs to look after. As the first guy (I just can't bring myself to type that title again ) isn't actually a Sales Exec I would again guess that you should be dealing with the second one.

The only way to find out for sure is to go into the dealership and ask (the Sales Manager preferably) who is looking after your order and who will be handing your new car over to you.
