I left a thread yesterday saying how my 500 was due to arrive in the UK and I wanted to know how long it took for people to eventually get their hands on their car...so...

I phoned my dealer (St. Helens) when I finished work to ask him if he could give me a rough idea of when I could pick it up and to my amazement he said my car was at the dealership ready to be picked up!! He said "sorry" for not phoning me, but I wasn't bothered at the time 'cos I was in utter shock it had arrived...but that's pretty bad really, cos say it arrived on friday, I could have had it insured and I could have picked it up earlier.

I couldn't believe it, I asked him if I could come see it but he quickly added that it was all locked up as they were going home! He told me I'd have to insure it before I could drive it away so mum's gonna Direct Line it for me :)

Are 500s pretty cheap with insurance? I'm hoping so hehe

NB...Obviously dependant on dealership I would advise anyone with a car on order that if you have a dealership like mine to keep mithering him otherwise you won't find anything out. If I didnt ring today I wouldnt get my car before Bank Holiday weekend. :D

In defence of Forward Autos - i was there test driving on Firday - there was only one salesman in (rest taking holidays before end of finacial year). The one guy spent about 1.5 hours with me, test driving various cars from 1.2 500 through to a 1.9mjet sporting GP. In contrast the previous Friday i turned up at another dealer for pre arranged test drives and they had given all their cars out as courtesy cars, and wouldn't put a trade plate on a used car either.

Hope you enjoy the car - you can't get much lower than group 2 for insurance, the only thign against you will be age and the cost of the car. Good luck.

Got too agree with you. I bought my GPS mjet from them in October and they have been great since. We went to test drive 500 on sunday and they let us out on our own in the 1.4 sport and let us test drive a 1.2 even though it wasn't even setup, i.e all lights flashing, was still in italian and had 1mile on it.
we went back on monday and ordered it, he was saying how busy they where and he had a whole stack of orders he needed call people about.
I know I have mentioned a few times on this forum that I am impressed with them but that was in comparison to a terrible caladonia delaership.

Hopefully this will be your only hiccup and hopefully the now important aftersales car will be spot on!
