Some people have been getting their cars arriving in the UK earlier than what they were originally told but as is typical for me mine seems to be arriving when it was supposed to (arrival date approx 18 March).

I want to understand why some arrive much earlier than the arrival date and some dont, anyone know??

I was told that my car left the factory in Poland either Mon 3rd or Tues 4th and over a week later I still dont have any news.

Do the cars get sent via Australia or something, how are they transported, where do they arrive in the UK and how long from arrival to dealer?

Dont have a car to drive so getting a little impatient :p

Cars are shipped by boat to Bristol docks, there is a huge Fiat import centre there... run by a transport company called Walon. When the car arrives it is checked over at the site and any obvious problems are sorted there, including respraying work or bodywork that may have got damadged in transit. From there, they are sent out on lorries to dealerships.

No idea how the cars get from Southern Poland to the coast, Im guessing by rail as Poland has a decent rail system that actually is used for loads of freight.. unlike here.

Seems my car still stuck in Poland, along with some other Diesel 500's, wonder how many other MJT's are there as well, maybe its a totally underelated prob to a diesel one ??

Dealer is not sure why, going to hopefully update me tomorrow as to exact issue. Am impatient for car but just excited to get my hands on it so I can have a good blast around the countryside when I get it.

Hope it doesnt take too much longer, I have a growing collection of extras/accessories but no car .

Thanks for the info Nuova, nice to get more insight into how it all works (y)

Theres definately more to this diesel issue than we all know... mines still not got a build week as far as I know and its been ordered for 5 weeks now, its the not knowing I hate:(

I know what you mean. If I find out there is another issue with the diesels I will post it on here and let you know.

This diesel issue (and the FF member -sorry can't remember his name- who is having post-dealer HG rattling and low mpg probs with his new 1.3) has got me so concerned DESPITE the assurances of poor Scrogg (now banished) and other good people on this forum, that I am seriously considering cancelling my order and placing one further down the line for a 1.2:(:(:(

I so wanted the multijet but I just can't abide the suspicion that I might be getting a sub-par product - and the worst thing: dreaded low MPG.

I'll ponder a few more days...but if delivery dates really are getting pushed back like NuovaPanda reports then it's hardly worth the extra £1400, the worries and the possibility that the dealer might not repair the HG problem correctly, esp considering they're getting their instructions in Italian as per the alarm fitting prob reported earlier...

That's me with the rattle. It's only at around 3000 rpm and it's the exhaust resonating against a heat shield or something like that. Car's in Monday on a while you wait basis. MPG is steadily rising although I'll question this too. Now at 40.8MPG overall and I've been gunning it too ;)

Don't cancel your order for a 1.3M-jet to a 1.2 because you'll regret it long term.

Speak to FIAT customer care - they'll sort you out. I still have to do this but other have and let's just say FIAT are being very good about this.

Yeah, I'm gonna think on it a couple of days...actually the main obstacle to cancelling the order is my GF!!! She so can't wait for the late March/April delivery as it is...she'd hit the roof if I cancelled.

Anyway, I guess I'll just have to go back to wringing my hands over this till I calm down.

BTW Nero, has your MPG improved yet? I've been visualising an MPG of well over 60...34 would just not cut it...not at 110p a litre up here in Scotia...

(Sorry just re-read your post and saw that your mpg has improved...here's hoping for the 60....Apparently Suasexed been getting 50+ on his 1.2!!)

Yes MPG is rising. Done 175 miles at an average now of 40.8MPG but on day on I was 4 up with the family and I've been gunning it everywhere too. Think the low MPG was down to the gasket testing.

Used to thrash my old 53 plate Punto Mjet that I had from new everywhere and never got less than 44 MPG. Go steady and you'll get a lot more.

Dude...thanks for that, am gonna hit the sack, think on this whole mjt issue. See you guys tomorrow

No worries - I'm up in less than 3 hours to go to Geneva and not back until midnight. Long day and loads of lovely cars to see, if I don't fall asleep.

Sleep tight and don't worry on the Mjet. It's a proven engine thats been around for ages now. I first went in a prova Mjet Bravia in the late 90's in Torino!

Just wanted to post some reassuring words. My MJ has had the head gasket problem fixed - which took less then a day - and it's running brilliantly. Only got it on Tuesday so not much of a chance to really test it out but went for a bazz up and down the M62 yesterday and was getting about 44mpg average (which included a bit of city driving beforehand). Favourite info I've got from the trip computer so far is that my average speed on my journey to work yesterday was 2mph! Managed to creep up to 11mph today. The joys of Manchester traffic.

Me and Seton do. And Mark... Yoshi... Nero :p

Our source 'wink' thinks it might not be related to the diesels, maybe there is a strike or something by the people who transport the cars. Hope to find out more today . At the moment no-one seems to know
