Have (after a few issues) ordered a 1.2 lounge in red. Now have always had a few reservations about the black/white cheque seats. I know for example they look great on a cha cha & black 500 but am not too covinced about the seat & style for our car. My favourite style seat is on the pop but have been doing a bit of home work, and the sport standard style seat seems to look more to our liking.

So I have now have sent off an email to our dealer asking if we can swap our order (so we started off at a pop, then a lounge now a sport :nutter:).

Not too fussed about losing the glass roof and the wife loves the spoiler and dark tinted glass and it still has blue n me. I will still add the 16" alloys, rubbing strips, chrome kit and head restraints.

Does any one have any better images of the seats etc in the sport and am I right in thinking that the dash is different as is the seating position?

Good move or not  There is Just tooooo many blooming options :bang:

Thanks

Yoshi :tempt:

The Sport has all balck instruments whereas I believe the Lounge & Pop have a white outer rim for the speedo.

I have read somewhere that the seats are slightly lower in the Sport trim but cannot confirm this.

We thought the Sport seats were great and cancelled any thoughts of going for the leather trim (which we have in the Alfa we are trading in).

Good luck choosing!

I don't think any ones quite sure if the seats are actually lower or not. Just looking at the brochure/fiat web site they look more like the style we were 1st looking for.

Can anyone confirm the minor differences the sport spec brings against the lounge/pop. I 'm aware of the sunroof & lack of chrome kit etc, but what about the height of the seat, speedo colour/design etc :chin:?

Thanks

I don't know about the seat height but the sport has the following as standard (not supplied with the lounge):

tinted rear windows, leather sport steering wheel, sport alloys (185/55 R15 tyres), foglights, sports seats with special padding, chrome kickplates, rear spoiler, sportier instrument dial.

The lounge has the following as standard (not supplied with the sport):

split folding rear seats with head restraints, storage under passenger seat, fixed glass roof, chrome window trims, chrome front & rear bumpers, chrome crown on gear lever, illuminated luggage compartment, sun visor with light and courtesy mirror.

Hope this helps.

Actually, going back to the OP topic, there are far too many options. It would have been far more sensible to offer only the following -

500 Pop with 1.2 8v engine

500 Lounge with 1.3 diesel (and "Lusso" would have been a nicer name)

500 Sport with 1.4 16v engine

With the only variations on each being paint and interior trim. Each model in the range would then have a clearly defined personality. This would have made life for the factory and the dealerships so much simpler.

Three engines and three trims is hardly that many (most other cars would have a similar number if not more). I believe it seems complex because the brochure is a piece of art rather than being informative. If you want to see the difference between the Sport dials and Lounge dials or find out if all 1.4s have a Sport button or its is just the Sport the brochure just doesn't tell you.

Journalist still refer to the Sport as having stiffer suspension.

A more conventional brochure with the models broken down into sections with photos would avoid the confusion but then it wouldn't go with the marketing image.

Fortunately we have this forum to bring some order!

As most of the options are just stickers/graphics and the like, I dont think its that hard at all. For me, choosing trim level was easy but had to think hard about the engine.
For me, the 1.2 was not enough for our regular jaunts abroad and the 1.4 was too thirsty.
But the extra £1400 for the 1.3 over a 1.2 was hard to swallow:)

Sorry, Im sure it is nippy and all that but I wanted the grunt that only the diesel offered.
Actually its 9bhp, Panda has 60:)

We currently own a 1.2 panda & the 1.2 pop we tryed felt nippier even though it is a bit heavier.

Also would agree about the brochure.....it looks great.....tells you nowt.

The storage under the seat is listed for all models as standard in the brochure.

All but the sun visor courtesy light can be had as options on the other models.

At least I think so!

just been lookin at that in the brochure

passenger seat with oddment storage underneath is standard on all cars (guess it has to be withthere been no covered glove box)

but the illuminated boot is onlystandard on the lounge not even an option on pop or sport

And so the confusion over the exact spec goes on. I really do think that this business is bloody. Just as you think you have got everything you really want, you discover you have to do without something you feel you need. So you start with the Pop and add stuff on, only to discover that the Pop comes without the seat storage, or does it? And the boot light is a must, so... Then you want the leather seats, and discover that you can't have the colour you like with the right 'ambiance', and so you give up and assume the position of Rodin's Thinker. Or something like that. I have never quite got to my perfect spec without gaining something I don't want on the way, or leaving something important out. One day though! This is the Rubik cube of choice and I refuse to believe that 'my' car isn't in there somewhere.
