For the first time in history a dealer actually called me back after saying they would. the news is apparently my 500 is on the boat! yay to that but how long does it take to ship over? is it really 3 weeks? why so long, you could prob swim it faster? anyway it's been built - all so real now :D

called my dealer today and he told me mine was at the build stage but he want sure how long it had been like that and said it could be anything from 4-6 weeks so now lookin more like the end of april for mine rather than the end of march as first told (n)

I spoke to my dealer today as well, currently looks like the 2nd week in April.......was originally told towards end of march so it has slipped a bit.

Anyway not too bothered as it gives me a month to clean up my current car and get it onto autotrader......and another months interest on the cash is always nice too.

Simon did you see the new caterham V8???

Oopps sorry just saw your other reply

Cars have recently been arriving much sooner that people were originally told, so fingers crossed (y), assuming of course your cars have been confirmed for build and have a build week, so your dealer should be able to give you an approx delivery date to the UK.

I was told 17 Mar for the car to arrive in UK but now its 18TH but as I said earlier one or 2 people on here have received their cars a week or more earlier, you never know.

Mines at status 35 (on ship to UK) with an est arrival date of 6th March into the UK. Been told, that just cos its on the ship to the UK doesn't mean its actually moving :(

I also won't know anything until Monday as my dealer seems to be being a bit awkward and insisting they won't update there system until Monday

What happened to customer care  It can't take more than 5mins to find this info out....

That's true...

...whereas that isn't!

The status changes from 20 to 35 when the cars are released to the company that operate the ship. This often happens several days before the ship actually sails.

The status will then remain at 35 until the car is received by the UK Import Centre, again often several days after the ship docks at Portbury, when it changes to 40.

Basically, whilst a car is at Status 35 there is no real way of knowing how long it will take to arrive. It's only when it moves to 40 that specific time-scales apply.

The system is updated overnight 7 days a week, so any changes in status that occurred today will show on there tomorrow.

Less then that! I was on the telephone to our Group Fleet Manager this afternoon, and during a 15 minute conversation I checked the availability of three different Grande Punto, the status of four different orders and ordered a Multipla.

Must have been a riveting conversation.;)

The conversation was about what I was doing, as they were all his orders ;)

The point I was trying to make is that if I can do all that in fifteen minutes, there is no excuse for any dealership not to be able to check the status of an order, as it takes less than a minute to do.

Thanks Scrogg :) Super informative as per usual (y)

yes thats really helpful. so i guess mine is still sitting in the docks. its was expected march 24 when i went into the dealer some 3-4 weeks ago. the lady i spoke with at the dealer wouldn't tell me the status number of my car. she said said 'its on the boat' and around three weeks. she did give me the chassis number however, would that help me find out anything about the car??
thanks

Not from anywhere other than your dealership unfortunately! :p

oooh no  im never going to find out anything about my car, i dnt think my dealer likes me. i dunno, jus an effect i have on ppl i guess ;)
hmmm what if my 500 falls off the boat into the water, ill never find out.. i need to go on some titanic style rescue mission. will someone take me to poland.

It's ironic, I've had my car 2 weeks, and then the one weekend that I look forwards to seeing loads out & about & flashing, the bloody gararge messes up & I have ther demo in place of my beautifull Jive Blue car.

Ho hum, I'll have to see how fast a 1.4 is top end I suppose.
