Hey all,

get to pick up my new fiat 500 on the 4th of march and cant wait!

just a question about the insurance, the dealership i said to pick it up i need to bring a briefcase full of $1 notes, and an insurance certificate.

how do i obtain this, as im assuming i will have to know the car reg before its insured, but will the dealership be able to give me the reg to insure it, as its an 08 plate?

also does it take long for them to send paperwork through so i can prove the insurance to the dealer?

Cheers again

well they said i need to get insurance before i pick it up, so ill prob ring up around Tuesday/Wednesday see if they know so i can sort it out...

going with Diamond.com for free handbag insurance (and its the cheapest!!!)... ill just be an additional on my girlfriends policy for it.

Strange how it varies, my dealer gives 7 days insurance free with Norwich Union to give you time to sort out the insurance and not have to worry about timing of it for the p/x.

Cheers
Baldrick

I get almost every car I sell done on that 7 days deal. It's ace, makes taxing cars without having the customer come back in so much easier. :)

thats a great deal, didnt know that was possible for dealers to do that.

cool, ill get the relivent info from my dealer an get it all sorted... cant wait to pick it up :)

regarding payment, whats the best way to pay for you guys.
cheque, bankers draft, do you guys just pay on a debit/credit card (for £7000+)

didnt really wanna wait for cheques to clear and being a tight arse, dont like paying for bankers drafts (begrudge banks taking money).

personally, id like to pay on my card, but not sure if thats an option as its alot of money.

this is the ebay link of the dealership im going through in the teesside area.

Debit card without a doubt. Cheque and bankersdrafts take time to clear. Cash is always a pain in the arse. and credit cards have a extra charge on them.

Debit card is the quick and easy way for everyone involved.

cool, ill go for debit when making the payment... will have to check with the bank before hand, as ive never paid for anything that expensive in one go before on the card!!!

Aces! I'm gonna use a debit card for mine too, so much easier and quicker...alls I'm worried about is whether my car will come with my spec, I read a thread last night where someone amended an order to a black pop with loads of xtra spec and it's due to be coming as the standard pop! I'm gonna give my dealership a ring this week, not heard from them since I placed the order in January...:(

Keep on them dude...it sounds like more than one person on here who tried to amend their order was disappointed. Make sure you get the signed paperwork from your dealer. That means the print out of your amended spec with the signature of your salesman, otherwise you might end up with your original order.

see yoshis thread here:

Good luck!

Edit; I see you found yoshis thread, sorry.

Cheers for that, made for some interesting reading ;) After reading that last thread I'm gonna ask them to send out a printout of the order form so I can have my order in writing...Thanks again

Went onto Moneysupermarket.com last night to get a quote on my car.

According to the site a FIAT 500 with the 1.3 engine doesnt exist but the 1.2 and 1.4 do exist WTF !!!

Just tried getting a quote for my yet to be built 500 on moneysupermarket.com, (so i know how much to expect) i select Fiat, then 500, then the only option i get in year of registration is 1948 to 1973....emm how about 2008?? nope, oh well, so i guess i'll have to phone them, or wait till i get the final car reg. If u choose the 1.2 option you will be given a choice of petrol or diesel. The diesel is actually 1.248cc and so therefore is technically a 1.2 not 1.3. It fooled me for a bit but it looks like some insurance companies use the actual car info from the VIN not the marketing rubbish sent out by the companies.
