do Fiat allow bulletins to be posted on public forums:confused:
I doubt it, but if the alternative is getting a public battering from current/potential customers for not releasing any information I doubt they'll complain too much, especially as they seem to have announced the problem to everyone except their own dealer network already!

I should hope so! It is after all in a company's interest to keep these things transparent! It shows honesty and earns the respect of customers.

Kudos to Scrogg for letting us all know! Much appreciated and it sounds like the delay won't be too long.

What possible harm can it do to post it anyway, this is actually allaying the fears of those people who bought 1.3s and who would have read the press release anyway.(y)

Little sis got hers last week so will tell her to keep an eye out! I would have thought that the better quality systems employed by Fiat now will have prevented a recall type situation here, rather than churn them out anyway they have stopped production.
Not sure if any out there will have this duff component? I think it more likely that a batch of this component comes in, they test x number of them, they all fail (or 3/5 or whatever the level is), so they decide to bin batch and halt production?

Highly unlikely that they test any of the parts they recieve as OEM standard is to have supplier quality assured parts.

Most likely the supplier does sample testing, has found a serious failure, and hence has to assume everything is suspect since the last results.

I totally agree.

It's not great news for people waiting for 1.3's, but it's not the end of the world, and should be resolved quickly.

Experience tells me that information given to the Press tends to be supplied by the Marketing people, so is generally trying to make any negative situation seem less so; whereas information supplied to the dealer network comes from the Technical people, so tends to be more factual (and dare I say, accurate?)

I think i'll hold off canceling my order for the mo. Thanx for info. :worship:

I have my car on order but I am concerned about when I will get it now, I have been counting on it coming on the time I was told.

Because my car is delayed althought it has been confirmed for build am I obliged to wait for the car now or can I pull out of my order because Fiat hasnt lived up to their side of the deal?

Have you been given a guaranteed date of delivery? If not I can't see how they will have failed to live up to their side of the deal. you can cancel a deal but wil lose your deposit. But is i worth it when the delay is likely to be at week or 2 a the most?

I was given a delivery date, so if there is a delay then I consider is a break of the deal.

I sold my last car on the assumption I was going to get my new 500 on the date I was told, now I wont have a car at all.

And what are you hoping to achieve by cancelling?

You still won't have a car, and unless you buy a used one or a new one that's in a showroom somewhere you will then have to wait for a different one...

Or are you having second thoughts about the 500 and are just using this as an excuse to get your deposit back so you can buy a different car?

I am not having a go or making excuses but I REALLY need a car to get me around, without it I am buggered, so if I have to get a different car then I will, it would be a decision made out of necessity not choice.

Update on my sis's car, it was NOT on the list for needing checking thankfully. Strangely the car that was delivered with it was on the list, so it does seem to be a very short run type thing (by which I mean they cant have been built more than a week or two apart? and one is affected the other isnt) if that makes sense!

Do you guys/girls in the trade know the time it takes from puting in an order to the car being built? Glad to hear that it might be a small numbered problem.
Just hope my Panda isn't affected.

Completley dependant on whaty options you have ordered. And the dealer you are using I'm afraid.
Best way to try work it out is with getting updates on the cars status.

I doubt it

Talk to you dealership about it before making any quick decisions. They want you to have the car as much as you do, so they may be able to help you out, perhaps by offering you the use of a courtesy car until yours is delivered.
