Finally got to sit in a car with a fixed glass roof. We were wanting the opening roof but my head was rubbing on the roof lining. Thankfully there is more clearance in the fixed glass roof version so we are going for that instead.

I liked the look of the open roof and its a nod to the original 500, but I've had a sunroof on a Honda Civic in the past and hardly ever used it. They make a lot of wind noise and are bad for fuel economy. Plus you'd have to wait until at least September to get your car.

My 500 Sport has been ordered with an electric sunroof and the dealer has said delivery is expected for May.

I am 5' 1" tall so any slight reduction in headroom not an issue.

Roll on May....

We were lucky to get a sliding glass sunroof on ours. I am 6'1" and my hair doesn't touch the headlining with my preferred seating position. It's no problem.

Also, it has 3 positions, including just "tilt", so to keep the noise down you don't have to have it fully open when travelling fast. I had it open fully last weekend in the sunshine, and going down the dual carriageway it was quite noisy but you can just turn up the stereo. :D

Also, you can pull the blind across to stop your hair flying around whilst still getting plently of fresh air and no sunburn. (y)

As Bello500 says, it harks back to the original, so is a nice touch.

Any other views re fixed v electric roof? I have ordered the latter on a lounge spec; partly because of it's link to the old roof and my work journey is A/B roads (slow). I am worried about the headroom though (only 5.11"). Does it matter if it's lounge or sport (height of seats)? Is it really sept for delivery with elec roof? - only just ordered car so can amend I guess?
Cheers.

We went for the fixed option also, due to headroom (im 6'5). Have heard about noise issues though, search some threads.

I had the same roof on a new Panda once, its very noisy above 50 mph and it rattled a bit. Its very nice but decided the cons outweighed the pros.

Is this the sliding roof? Re: rattling!!

We chose the fixed over the sliding one, due mainly to the experiences we had with our previous car's electric sliding panoramic glass roof. It was a Renault Megane, and it had a very annoying rattle, which despite 4 attempts by Renault to fix under warranty, never stayed fixed.

So for the 500, we opted for the fixed galss roof plus climate control.

fixed roof for us - loving it so far

gives a nice airy feel to the car

have a few doubts on the durability of the flimsy shade thing though
