Borrowed a 1.4 Sport overnight on Sat from local dealer and tested it over 200 miles of motorway, A roads and country lanes. It was registered 31/12 with 700 miles. Overall highly impressed and judging by the number of other road users flashing lights and waving (in a nice way :)) it seems to be very popular. Some thoughts from the test driving:
Positives
Excellent gearchange & smooth clutch, superb brakes (even tested the emergency brake function), feisty engine note, throttle response with Sport 'on', lack of rattles, grippy seats, switchgear quality, decent cruising at 75mph+ on motorway, grip levels on twisty roads, exterior build excellent (shut lines, paint, solid thud closing doors and bootlid)
Negatives
Turning circle not great (had 16" wheels), ride never really settles on 16" wheels but adds to fun character, nasty fuse box lid plastic, door pull surrounds on inside seem to scratch easily, throttle with Sport 'off' far too long travel, mid bend potholes or drain covers unsettle car off-line - literally hops lol, memory front seat action very fiddly, wind noise from central pillar door seals

Cant wait until March when mine arrives :)

Thanks for that Sean...good review(y)

I only managed half hour test drive on the 1.4 (no motorway) before had to leave for work....thought I'd wait a week and consider. Ended up putting a deposit down 48hrs later on an unexpected free morning.

Just one question...just how bad is that wind noise? Are we talking slight hiss with sound system off or full on gale drowning out the Wagner?

Wind noise?!? Even at well over a ton I have never had wind noise on ours?

Yes can confirm the wind noise is noticeable above 50 - but more of a hiss rather than whistle lol. I was hoping it was because the demo car was an early build car from Dec07 with out-of-spec door seals.

Interesting how N500SHP didn't notice it, perhaps related to the RHD conversion although I don't see how.
