Hi all

I am new to this forum and what a good forum it is. My wife linda has a 4 year old smart car and we were thinking of changing it as she loves the look of this Fiat and so do I. Do they do a sky blue one I think it's like the smeg fridge colour I'm sure they used to on the old one I have looked on the Fiat site but the blues are darkish yet i have seen a picture in a magazine of one in a light sky blue! does anyone know if they do it and if so does anyone have a picture? The only thing that worries me about buying Fiat is their poor reputaion for reliability, electrics and residual values as i have looked at the residuals for the panda and wow does that lose a lot of money after 3 years. I know you lose on cars but i want to lose as little as possible as when we sell the smart we should do ok on it. Any help appreciated the one she would go for is the 1.2 but she does like air con and alloys so it will be the dearer one which is a pain, what is the difference between the Lounge and the Sport as they are both the same price i think, and does the lounge have that big glass roof as standard. Sorry for all the questions but i know you all love talking about this car, I must admit I don't want us to sell the smart and spend more money but I just think this car is stunning. :D

Fiat residules arent the best, but they are hoping the 500 will buck the trend. As for reliability, there isnt a Fiat that has as bad a rep. as a Smart, sorry but our engines dont go pop at 60,000 miles usually.
I considered a Smart some time back, but the massive problems posted on Smart forums put me right off.
I think you couldnt do better than the 500 right now, if you want a good little car.
The Lounge has the glass roof, sport does not. The sky blue is a metallic as far as Im aware.

There is no Sky Blue, there is a light Blue (Cha Cha Cha Azure), Jive Blue (retro colour) and Mod Blue (dark metallic blue).

I think you can get a sky blue colour (as I have seen a few pics) but you cant get it here in the UK.

The best thing is to go on the FIAT site and go to the 500 section and try the configurator. The lounge version has the fixed glass roof as standard.

PS: The main visible different between the Lounge and Sport is that the Lounge has the glass roof and chrome bits on the outside whereas the Sport doesnt, it has sporty alloys and no chrome bits. Inside there are some subtle difference like the sport has different dials and seats but the lounge has underseat storage, 50/50 seats.

I guess it depends what you are looking for but resale should be pretty good for 1.2 Lounge or Sport, depends on the colour you choose of course :p

Solid sky blue is available, one of the demo cars in the Telford showroom is in that colour..

for the 500 the 3 blue colours are Mod Blue, Jive Blue and Cha Cha Cha Azure (as I said before)

Oh, and I thout Cha Cha was metallic too, I do like it a lot.
Nope, there's only 3 metallics, Crossover Black, Mod Blue (dark blue) and Breakbeat Grey (silver). And of course the pearlecent Funk White. Alot of the solid/special solid colours would look so much better metallic, mainly Jive Blue, Punk Grey and probably even the orange. If the orange was more like the Grande Punto Sporting orange then fine, but it's more of a deep, burnt orange, a bit like a grapefruit; and would probably look better with a metallic flake.

I expect Fiat have tried to keep to original 500 shades and finishes. The old 500 looks amazing in sky blue and red, orange ones look kind of weird IMO. I like the Jive blue, need to see them all in the flesh really. Cant understand why all the promo photos etc are of white ones, it just looks insipid in white, got to be a proper colour for me.

Because most of the original 500's were white therefore enhancing the retro theme.

I'm half Italian and have spent many years in Italy and can assure you that most 500's were white, I don't have to relay on magazine pictures. Red is the second most popular and the numbers of other colours are insignificant in comparison.

I can recommend the Abruzzo region if you're thinking of a driving holiday btw.

SGM, Locks Heath, Southampton have the pale /sky blue as a demonstrator, I think it looks good and suits the car well. The pearlescent white is currently on a long waiting list, but have been told buy someone that has seen it in the flesh it is not that attractive, it is also a £700 option I do believe.
