General Launch rumours?

You're not in Bristol are you? :p

With the investment that Fiat are putting into this launch, any dealer that does not make a big deal of it is going to be in for a seriously hard time!

Bristol is my dealer, yep! I got the same response from the dealer that Mr Elvin did (whos also bought from Bristol).

Marks right, with 2 weeks to go and nothing organised its a bit of a poor show. They said 'it might be good, might be rubbish, depends what we do"

Dont know what it is with dealers round these parts - i have a dealer much closer but their lack of knowledge & enthusiasm when i called to first find out about the 500 was rubbish, hence me going to Brissol. :bang:

Most car salesmen these days are career salesmen, they have no interest or passion for what they are selling.

You just have to pick and choose a bit.Not all the apples are bad in any barrel.;)

I hear the local fiat sales staff in the pub moaning
"The products are rubbish, the customers hate us, the owners are crooks, we are only here til we find somethin better"
For the 500 they say
"Its a waste of space and the 500 powwow pi22 up is a waste of time"
They wont refuse to go to the freebie powwow though and they'll be al nice as pie and take your money if you order.

If they are rubbish locally, try another dealer
((We will certainly get our own back and order somewhere else.))

I have to agree that most are career salesmen. But not all. ;)
I'll second that. There are still a few good ones left.

Most of the really passionate ones work for MINI or Porsche though! ;)

Exactly right. Nobody should have to put up with poor service. If you're not happy, vote with your feet and go somewhere else.

I will say that the guy in Bristol is fine to deal with, can always have a laugh with him and is likable, but its the knowledge side of things that annoys me! However, i think this is mainly down to Fiat themselves.

When i first enquired with Bristol about the 500 i spent over half an hour on the phone with him which was re-assuring for me, and made me travel twice the distance i needed to to order one.

I dont mind waiting for my car as it will be a 3rd car and for business use, but dealers shouldnt even guess delivery times if they dont know.

I'm guessing you're a dealer in Gloucestershire Scrogg??

I didn't order mine locally, the dealer had no interest in selling the product, so he wasn't getting any commission out of me.

Yes. I'll have to travel a bit further to get it, but I'll get the servicing done at a non Fiat dealer locally.

Cheers

D

There seams to be a general apethy from the principle about the 500 luanch as he has no idea what's happening for the launch at all.

Apathy maybe cos the dealers arent getting that many enquiries about the 500 so far.
Its big news to us who love the look of them but its just another Fiat to a lot of people including a lot of fiat staff.Completely off the radar to some of them Some dont rate it cos of small size, high price or looks girly ghey or whatever.

I just caught out a skanky Fiat salesman telling lies to me and then a different set of lies about engine size of a car to a mate of mine.
Separate thread

Sales guy though couldnt believe his bad luck that these 2 sales enquirers (me and other person) knew each other. Nobody else has asked him for a test drive or been serious about a 500 so far he reckons except us 2.

Dealers havent got the 500s in all 3 engine sizes from Fiat so some tell porkies and mislead to try and get customers to order. It might work with some peeps too, it just turns me off and makes me want to go elsewhere.MINI dealerships were never like this with me:eek:

Remember how the some dealers were reckoning they'd taken dozens of ordersa few weeks ago. All trying to outdo each other with sales figures. If there order figs were true there's be thousands and thousands of 500s comin between now and March.:)Most of it was bluster and sales talk some havent sold all their (very small) allocation for Mar Apr.Certainly not all sold out til next year like some were reckoning .

Oops
Pot.Kettle Black.
There again we used to exaggerate our team sales figs to the other sales teams when I was doing telesales. All teams claiming to be doing better than we were.

When the launch gets in full swing and people see the car in showrooms and on the road they will sell like hot cakes. The whole Fiat campaign is about creating a building momentum behind the car and not a big bang from day one regarding sales. This is why the numbers of cars available to dealers for sale are limited in its first year.

Totally agree with that.

I talk to people almost daily that are interested in the 500, but are waiting to see the whole range, and drive the model that most appeals to them, before making a commitment to buy one.

Agree with that as well.

Fiat themselves are not expecting many UK registrations before March.

This is why the numbers of cars available to dealers for sale are limited in its first year.
And it's the best way to keep the resale values high ;)

Hey guys, if/when you find out where the launch is being done on the internet would someone please pm me?
I would like to watch it but obviously living in NZ i cant watch UK TV!
We are having the launch in March for the NZ market and it will be nowhere near this size but it might give us some ideas!
