Of no interest to anyone, but a factual correction to my earlier post - hubby had discs removed, not vertebra of course. Shouldn't post when very tired.

PS - I've got N500 FAN as my plate!

I'm 6'1" with back and leg troubles but found headroom OK when sitting in a 500 Lounge, though I haven't managed to have a test drive yet.
Ride is not as firm as the Panda, comfortable and sporty. Handling is less frantic than the Panda.

I hope you tried it on a variety of roads and not just the smooth-as-silk ones chosen by the dealer.
I assumed the Sport with its firmer seats and bigger wheels would be the most UNcomfortable.

Having the 1.3 Lounge with 16's on wont be too much of a prob, my Leon FR rides hard on 18's and my old Fiesta RS1800 was a back breaker so I am sure my 500 will ride on a cushion of air :D.

Dont think I will be getting any personal plates for my 500 but I cant wait to get my hands on it and have some fun, am not patient at all :(

Yeah, tried it all over - dealer didn't care where we went; town roads with speed humps, slighly rougher country roads - all fine. I'm used to driving hubby's Renault Clio Trophy though, so everything seems comfortable in comparision!

A friend that works for FIAT in Turin told me that they took one year's production of orders before the 4th July! Dont hold your breath guys, this is Italy and you cant get them on order. We had to cancel our order (for tax reason we had to buy before the end of the year) and bought a new one from a local Lancia dealer that seems to get plenty of them. We ordered in August and cancelled in December.
BUT it's worth waiting for. We had a new Cooper cabrio last year, did 8000km in and got bored and the wife hated it. We love our little 1.3mj Lounge. Done 1,700km and it's brilliant. Hang in there!!! If you want a LHD we can point you in the right direction here.

LHD ones we can get no probs richit.
RHD ones are coming slowly, very slowly.

Should soon see greedy speculator somewhere advertsing one 4 well above list + late Jan delivery (I hope they catch somethin nasty) but no sign of any ad like that yet.

scrogg (W.garages Gloucester Fiat dealer sales manager will take our orders but all dealers get them the same time - so March b4 a lot of customers get them.

Just over 3 weeks to UK launch yet richit. ;)

I won't, as we've sold all of our January, February and March allocation already, but thanks for having yet another dig at me without knowing anything about me!

According to the Fiat ordering system, the first customer 500s will be built in Week 3 2008 (week-commencing 14th January) so dealers should start to see them arrive 2-3 weeks after that (I won't actually believe it until I see them, but that's just me being cynical)

I can't see many people actually wanting to take delivery in February when there is a new plate only a few weeks away, but maybe some will?

I was 'this' close to buying Clio Trophy a year back or so, not a bad car.

Got my invite for the 500 Launch, cant wait. Apparentlty there is some big launch in London with some famous person singing etc etc (BORING) !!

Have you got any of your demos yet pwig
What about the '2 additional cars' dealers are getting - have you sold them too? Have you sold your garages Feb/March allocation as well?

I'd have to check, but I think I've got two 1.2 Pops for early February build left.
I've just ordered standard cars to get them in the system, but options and colours can be changed up until about two weeks before they go into build.

Officially I haven't got any left, as one is mine and the other is going to be used as a demonstrator...

...but I would have been happy to let Mark have mine to help him out, as he wasn't having much joy with his dealer, but I gather from a post he made this morning that his issues are now sorted.

Hhhmmmm my dealer told me the first batch for the UK were already built, but were busy getting their options/extra fitted, guess no-one knows for sure.

Anyway I hope you guys dont have to wait too long, I am only getting mine sometime in May anyway :(

You'll probably be okay at 6' 1" - with the driver's seat all the way down and the steering wheel up, you should be fine. My hubby used to be 6' 1", then they took out 3 vertebra, replaced them with titanium, making him an inch taller and giving me a great excuse to order the sport for the lower seats! :)

Ooooh sounds a plan. Sick of being 5'8. :D

My wifes 1.2 sport was ordered in August (In Italy) and was delivered Dec 20th, plates in Italy do take a week to arrive as well so around 14-15 weeks

Got confirmation on my car today. It goes into production in week 3 of January and is due to arrive in the UK on the 11th February. It should be with my dealer no later than the 19th February after being checked over & transported by Walon so that's a March 1st registration for me. I ordered the car back in mid September. The good news from my point of view is that as my car is in the initial production run of RHD cars I've been assured it will not suffer from the delays mentioned here and on nf500 due to supply issues on certain wheel designs etc.
