Cos your GP arbarth you might get will be....
Wait don't know where I was going with that one.

:D :D :D :D where were you going with that 1:confused: :D anyway meanwhile back at the ranch:) the alleged abarth 500SS with the allegedly 180 bhp am i right or wait was 200 bhp fiat just cant seem to make their mind up about much these days didn't even get the car to the Tokyo show the 500 abarth preview that is.sure you will get a 130 bhp or even a 150 bhp abarth on the road but never in month of frickin sundays will you get 180bhp never mind 200bhp in 500abarth ss DREAM ON.ps are you some kinda bookie wanting to take all our money off us;)

180bhp aint that amazing, if Renault can do it with the Clio Sport(172) why is it so surprising Fiat should with the 500?

the clio is a class bigger than the 500 for start.the 500 is a very pretty redressed panda.renault are a lot better at it than fiat aswell.dont get me wrong i am all for fiat but be realistic 150bhp is all fiat will give the 500 and for that size of car its plenty.never will there be 180bhp in a 500/panda.its too light too small it will not cope with that power.fiat know that.its all hype trying to give the 500 more kudos:)

I am talking about the the previous version of the Clio Sport and remember there was also a V6 version putting out 252bhp. The Clio at the time was the smallest car in the Renault UK range and aimed very much at the same market as the Fiat500 is now. The delay in the release is presumably because Fiat are addressing the very issues you refer to.

There is certainly no reason why it can't be done, Fiat have gained a lot of experience of high performance Arbaths in the S2000 class in the European Rally Championships in the last 2 years. I feel in some ways we can be guilty of judging Fiat by their recent history and not by the new regime or their more glorious past.

Don't forget if they really run into problems they do own a small concern in Maranello who they can pop down the road to for advice.

funniest thing i heard in ages
I am gonna miss you lot next week.

Thanks. I am in no rush anyway, I have a new FR to use in the meantime. I just read about the Abarth and the SS and feel in love. I am well aware they might not make the SS but if they do then I want to be near the front of the cue and up until the day they make the car I can still get my deposit back.

I waited 4 months to get my FR in Candy White but want a smaller car again. The dealer was quite funny when I came to put down my deposit, he thinks I am mad, he was insistent about taking a look inside my FR lol.

I think he said I was maybe the first to place such an order but I would rather do it now than a years time when the orders are flooding in, then the wait will be pretty long anyway, especially if I want it in Funk White.

The salesman wasnt too keen for me to place the order. I think he wanted me to order the 1.4, then at least he would get his commisson sooner, i dont think he wanted to wait 2 years :)

I haven't spoken to him personally but have seen his comments in the Italian press. I have spoken to Giulio Salomone however!

Go on put your money on the table.

Ah case closed then as I'm sure you are aware the Italian press are just as dedicated to the facts as our very own Daily Star.

You want my money. I'll tell you what. I am a Fiat salesman come up and put down a deposit on a 500 abarth SS. If it turns up in 2 years time with 180 BHP I'll give you your deposit back out of my own pocket. of course if it doesn't I'll just refund your deposit back into my pocket. Sound like a deal?

He he sure but have already put down deposit, show as ''SS/Abarth on my order form :). I will be so happy if they do make the SS. This is the newest article I can find mentioning the Abarth or Essesse

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/210898/fiat_500.html

Even the regular Abarth sounds amazing, so I wont be disappointed at all if they dont make the SS (well not too disappointed)

Well this is still way in the future, so see you guys in a few months, no use thinking about too much. I have been invited to my dealers Launch in January (500 hours into the new year, sweet :) )

is your leon that bad you want to replace it with a 500 abarth/panda yeah panda because thats what it is. just like your seat is a golf even more so in the 500 case i am afraid you are just getting caught up in 500 hype.i know which i would prefer.personally i think the 500 in any guise is camper than a row of pink tents.

That's better!(y)
As someone who remembers the real 500s (managing nearly 70 mph downhill with the wind behind, 4 adults up and the men (over 6-footers) in front having to put their heads out the top through the sunroof, it strikes me that Fiat have lost the plot with the new one. It should and can only be 500cc. Any more and it simply ain't a 500 (or a Cinquecento), any more than BMW's great lump is a Mini IMHO. (n)

I also had one of the original Golfs, brand new in 1974, originally specced with X-ply tyres but when it eventually arrived it had radials thank goodness (though I had to pay extra), great car when it was running, but a heap of crap for reliability and even rust. Kept breaking down and on one occasion a complete wiring loom caught fire, and this on a dealer-serviced car. Not a lot better than my old man's Fiat 127 of the time as far as the rust was concerned and that's saying something, and the 127 was more reliable. But, back to the point, like the 500 the Golf has got enormous. My original was smaller than a modern Polo and probably only about the size of a Lupo.

People dont want a 500cc 500 though. Time has moved on things change people change, get over it.

If the new 500 could only do 63mph (the top speed iirc) like the original then no one would buy it, remember Fiat need to make money not just design and make a 500 identical to the original.

whats the problem guys?
the mans put a deposit down on an abarth with the provision if the SS is announced the deposit goes to that.
by the time the order goes through im sure the SS will be announced or cancelled so he will know either way.
fair play but i think i would have just waited unil it was a bit more clear cut myself

I thought I would be open and see what you guys thought, seems like there are more 'haters' but thats fair enough.

For the record the FR is an amazing car and as I have mentioned more than once I want to go back to smaller car, I though that statement was pretty clear.

Its plain this is a waste of time. I will be sure to pass the haters in my nice new Funk White Abarth or SS and rub your noses in it.

To the nice guys on here thanks for the kind words

have a nice life:D:D

Good luck, hope everything works out for you and you're happy with the car you finally purchase.

why not buy 2 makes no difference to me you mention the word "haters" far from it in my opinion you made a silly hasty decision putting a deposit on a car that doesn't even exist and if does get made?????? it wont be out for 2yrs. a grande punto abarth or SS "which does exist"will be my next car due out march i will place a order when its"APPLICABLE" and not before.jealous of a 500/retro panda no.i hope you do get your DREAM CAR when it does come out so you will be pay a jumped up silly price for it for which you deserve.then 6 months later its price is cut by £1500-£2,000:cry:

Just arguing with calling it the 500 really, when it ain't. But the old ones are still popular and cherished if you can get hold of one. Great city cars and there'd be a market for a really cheap 500c car, huge mpg, low insurance, open top and FUN!.
