General Anyone seen a new 500 in Britain yet?

Has anyone lucky enough to have already driven the 1.4 500 (NF500, etc.) as well as the original (New) MINI One with the 1.6 engine, and if so, are the two similar in terms of how they drive? I've driven a MINI One but not the Fiat. (Not yet anyway.)

I'm based a few miles south of Manchester so I'll try and get to Yorkshire in the next week or so to have a look at the 500 for real

You need to be at Piccadilly Motors Wakefield W Yorks (google it) for black sport photographed by loudpunto.Well worth a look

Red 1.4 Lounge for sale for £15990 at JCS Fiat Kegworth DE74 and FFS Ask them where they get that price from. They seem to be taking the **** out of Fiat uk who couldn't supply them with a demo so JCS got their own and now seem intent on pre-empting the UK launch with crazy prices

please tell me £15990 is just JCS being greedy profiteering and not the true price it will be. I rang JCS and it is not a typo error it is really the price they want for it.

Only a fool would buy a 500 for that money. £10,000 less, maybe.

Problem is JCS have one to sell and no one else does it seems unless you know different Negotiatior. The ones at motorvogue and piccadilly motors not forsale for several months, they are using them to get customers interested in rhd ones.

Guy on ebay saying he's got 20, only has one really in UK and not selling it

Auto express this week saying fiat have taken £1500 off price of the 500s and will now start at £11000 with a 1.4 lounge estimated at 11500 and going up to 13000. I don't really understand that. I thought cheapest would be sub 10000

Also in Auto Express magazine out today a test comparing 500 with Mini and other cars
It prefers the Mini

Fiat are fools if they think that they can make the Fiat 500 a premium car. £13000 for a 1.4 small car? It's madness. £7000 maybe. I am this out of touch with the quality of the 500? Everything I have seen says it is a budget small car which Fiat can't sell at a premium price.

I obviously don't know any better but my comment is aimed at anybody spending such silly money on a car in a bracket in which you could get a serious car for. For example, a top spec Fiat Bravo etc.

Fiar Dealers are saying from £8500 - Auto Express saying from £11000.

Dealers are saying avail from Dec/jan, AE says from Jan,Fiat say from Feb.

AExp point out peeps ordering now might be waiting until summer to get it - they have taken many advanced orders already.
Its a good quality finish inside but not Mini quality IMO.
AE and others who've driven it say ok drive/handling but not as good as Mini or Swift sport.
Somewhere else yest I read 1.4 100bhp Panda still better and 500 better- looking- fashion- statement with sporty Panda a better driving proposition.

Here is a quote from fiat.co.uk forum
How is this for an overpriced Fiat car from JCS main fiat dealer of kegworth derbyshire. it is on display in their showroom and for sale on their website and autotrader. ASsking £15990 for a 1.4 Lounge version is like nearly 50% overpriced by my calculation. Wher I come from that is racketeering. Profitable it may be. Do Fiat marketing have a hand in this? Do they condone this?WHAT A RIP OFF. HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME JCS FIAT OF KEGWORTH.aN ADVERT BASED ON A LIE, AND AN OVERPRICED CAR PAR EXCELLENCE.This not only breaks advertising rules, by claimin that as the price you are overshadowing, AND TOTALLY RUINING the chance of Fiat having a successful UK launch of the 500.If people think £15990 is the price of a 500 Lounge like you say, they will look elsewhere for a car. You are spoiling what could be a good 08 launch. Your comments Fiat marketing please
.

JCS still advertising it at 15990 - not sold yet - surprise surprise.Don't know of any other 500 for sale at the mo tho - they are perhaps chancing their arm at JCS

I hope fiat are taking notice and make prices real and not stupid.:(
Anyone else see one or driven one yet then?

Aleady regd in italy on IT plates but JCS is
Asking £15990 which is crackers IMO

Were saying it was the only one in the country and fiat had only given them one and that was the price they would be and blah blah fib fib blah blah:rolleyes:

I asked what was going on and jcs said it was not for sale but since then they put new ad on autotrader.co.uk £15990 (Not claiming its the 1st in uk now anyway.)

Owned a MINI One (well, my wife did, we swapped cars a lot though) for years and only spent a couple of hours with the 500, but they're very different cars to drive.

The 500 feels more like a "City Car". Compared to the 1st generation MINI One I'd say the gear shift is better, and the boot spaces is probably more usable.

The quality is on a par with a more basic MINI One, in terms of materials. The engine characteristics are not dissimilar in overall performance, but whereas the One tends to run out of steam at about 4,000 rpm (where the Cooper takes off) the 500 (with 1.4 100hp) is getting happy around that engine speed.

The MINI feels heavier and in that respect I think the 1.4 maybe beats the MINI One for dashing about town, but on the open roads the lower seating position and more "sporty" feel of the MINI might be preferable.

There's no doubt in my mind the 1.4 "sport" gives the MINI One a run for its money (depending on the price!) but it's no match really dynamically for the Cooper or over.

The Abarth has a lot of work to do or it will be a Cooper challenger at best. I hope they do some good tweaking, not only with the engine, but with the suspension settings, the seats too.

That red one is at JCS Fiat Kegworth, so its a tall car to go with the tall stories they tell :)

If you go across to Yorkshire Presstisimo, have a look at the white sport 500
I range up and It is not really for sale at the mo they want to keep it as a demo til november or december.

So why advertise it? to mislead people perhaps at piccadilly fiat knaresborough. They are advertising it at 10995 sterling which sounds good altho that is just to get you to visit them. That is not the price the sport will be in the uk rhd and the lhd one shown is not for sale really until nov/december. :(http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/ww...ukcarsearch_full.x=41&ukcarsearch_full.y=7Its

( take what they say with a pinch of salt presstisimo and get a test drive if you can then order one from elsewhere. Ha ha.) :)

Hi people,

just saw a sweet sky blue colour Fiat 500 go past on my way to Tesco arena in Coventry at 6 pm ish.

It had an italian plate and was very cute lookin, i'm pretty sure its gonna be a hit here when it arrives.(y)

From those photos the black one looks really nice - however I would definitely give those side stripes a miss.

No Fiat dealers near me have any to show :( I'm gagging to see one in the metal.

Kev - It's a shame you're not quite as enthusiastic about the 500 after seeing one, like Jase said, especially after you were even considering getting a LHD model! Where has the lust gone?!! Heheh.

I'm now looking forward to the next Ka more than ever now, I think it's gonna be quite a car. Especially given the price difference that up until now I've been abit optimistic as to how much the 500s are actually gonna be.

Did theguy at ttcentre tell you it was for sale arbarth_178?

He's advertising it on fleabay and says he has 20 in stock, but he only has that black one really and he doesnt want to sell that yet til he sees if he can get any more - thats what he told me.

I have seen the black one at Piccadilly Wakefield - it doesnt look all that good at all - too dark

I did'nt actually speak to anyone about the car, just walked in and had a look, they had no sales people in yesterday to ask any questions unfortunately!

But yeah thats the only 500 there, and presumed it was for sale to be honest.

As said not keen on the 500 in black, and had'nt even thought it looked good in photos prior to seeing it for real, just loses all the features of the car.

I have not been put off personally think it will look great in the paler colours like the light blue and the off white for example.

theres a black one at the fiat garage in wakefield if anyone lives near there.saw it the other day when i went to see how much some rubber strips for my rain guters would be!! 55.50 for a pair!!! i nearly told him to kiss my hairy bum!!!
