Search was for a us500 ;)

You not recognising the oils name: spec doesnt sound promising though.

...

I saw the name on the site, I don’t recall seeing the name before at any auto parts store. We don’t go to the auto parts store very often. Maybe once or twice a year if that. We don’t know what oil was used during the first oil change because it was at a mechanic, and we couldn’t see the name of the second one either as we didn’t do the oil changes. All we know is aside from the vacuum pump leak and the misfire (it was sorted) the car was and is running great.

With the multiair engine there is a little oil strainer on the front of the block that needs changing, this removes debris from the oil heading to the multiair unit.

I have not seen or heard of that anywhere on any forum yet, I will research into this more. How often does this have to be changed? This is something the owners manual should tell you. Is this for the Turbo engine? Edit: I researched it and it is something that I heard needs straining or replacing every 30,000-50,000miles or so depending on when you change your oil. Is this an expensive fix? This something SHOULD have been in the OWNERS MANUAL. It turns out a lot of people don’t even know what Multiair is, let alone this filter thing.

Service information is never in a owners manual these day's that sort of info is reserved for workshop manual

That part itself is around £35 so $45 or so although may be a bit more if you have to get it shipped from Europe

I don’t know about the USA but here in Europe you have an owners manual that has all the instructions of how the car works, various functions and features etc, where it might include information about oil capacity and type needed, the owner’s manual is usually general and covers all the different engine options for the model. It does not however usually have information about service intervals of what needs doing on each service.

There is normally a separated service book where the service stamps are kept and somewhere in that book it will tell you what is required at each service interval.

We have one too, on US cars you have to request an owners manual, we got lucky that we got one when we bought it used.

I found that part for about $25-$30, It’s weird how a little filter can wreak havoc on your engine if you don’t replace it.

Correct ..

Did I mention you need the correct oil

The oil change station did put in the right oil, I hope. It’s been 7 weeks (I think longer now) and about 2,000 miles later and no problems. Were not worried about the spark plugs and the oil as the car is running great right now. I just want to know what the supply filter is, and when it needs to be replaced. Thanks[emoji4]

For next time oil is due , There is a lot more to oil than it's viscosity.

You can't always tell if it's the correct oil by the way engine runs, especially over a short mileage and time frame.
