Back to basics here.

It will not crank the engine.. but the starter spins if removed from the car..


Its not uncommon for the main earth lead to break down internally.

will turn over engine if jump the starter want do any from the key

Bad Ground cable.

Have someone put their finger on the top of the starter relay and see if it clicks when you turn the key ? BCM/immobiliser or try different relay

Not an expert but other cases like this have been a poor gearbox to chassis earth. If high resistance will not allow the current needed to turn the engine but will allow enough to spin it off the car. Add a temp (thick) cable from body to engine/gearbox and see if it helps. If so a new earth strap will be needed.
