500 madness is a respectable shop. good people to deal with. not sure about the go pedal thing?. there are other tuning options avail as well. Dinan offers a piggy back Bluetooth module that is very reasonable for our cars now. A few others also out there
 
Hey everyone! I've recently ordered a cool air intake from a company called "500 Madness" and was told about another product called a "go pedal" which sounds interesting. I'm wondering if anyone here has an opinion or experience using one? :cool:

I've bought a few bits and bobs from 500Madness, good service. There have been some discussions related to the 'go pedal' device on the forum in the past - a search will bring them up.
 
That thing just adjusts the voltage output of the stock accelerator pedal sensor, so a small movement of the accelerator pedal will cause a larger voltage to be applied to the ECU input and hence cause a larger throttle plate movement for a smaller accelerator pedal input change.

This may give you the impression that the car has more power or acceleration, but the simple fact is that it's not going to produce any more power or torque than if you just were more aggressive with the standard setup.

The ecu has (say) a 0 to 5v input and this is interpreted as the accelerator pedal movement say 0v is no throttle and 5v is full throttle. Your device can adjust the rate of change of this voltage, but putting more than 5v onto this input of the ECU achieves nothing as the ecu has already interpreted it as 100% throttle application at 5v so feeding 6v or 8v into it achieves nil.

This device can't enable your engine produce any more power or torque, it just changes the "feel" of the throttle pedal to make it appear more responsive.

If you're prepared to pay $300 for something which only changes the way the accelerator pedal responds then by all means buy one; just don't be fooled into thinking you'll get any more power out of this, because you won't. The only thing it will increase is your fuel consumption.

IIRC @UFI has looked at similar devices in the past and reckons you could build something with the same functionality using an arduino for about a tenth of the price.

Perhaps spend the $300 on having the ecu remapped?

That would be the most sensible way of extracting more power (y)

IMO, these throttle boxes fall into the same crap rip-off category as those "power chip" resistors that flooded ebay years ago. Tricking an ecu from a sensor doesn't really work, however, the seller has tricked the buyer into handing over his cash ;):rolleyes:
 
I appreciate everyone's input, this item doesn't seems like something I want or need so I'll be saving myself the $300.00! :slayer: I am however looking forward to installing and checking out the difference the cool air intake makes, I think I'm going to like that!
 
Most induction kits are little more than a few silicone rubber and aluminium tubes. Check out Auto Silicone Hoses and make your own for not much money.

You might even be able to add a T branch to a resonance chamber to reduce the booming.
