Hi,
I have a fiat 500 pop and since the day I have bought it off the showroom floor....this car has been problem......the car keeps losing power and stopping in traffic....every time I take it to the dealer they keep telling me it is because I drive with 2 feet.....Ido not ride the brake this happens when I am driving.....as any others have this problem......I have almost been in 3 serious accidents because of this......

Take it back again and insist it be checked over thoroughly. You have rights under Trading Standards.

No he doesn't - he is American. (He'll have some other rights though I'm sure.)

Thank you Robin. Stand corrected, I did not look at the Flag. Nice to see you are On the Ball. I'm a bit weary with 6 months house refurb, project managing and decorating etc. and of course it's also an age thing which will get to you eventually:devil:

It was the" 500-USA " that gave it away for me,

I believe most US states now have a"Lemon Law" whereby you can reject a whole host of different good and appliances as " unfit for purpose",

as stated;
get it checked again - properly , and try and get the findings documented,

Any update on your problem?

Stu. I have no idea what you are alluding to. I made a couple of posts, and then left the forum. If something kicked off it had feck all to do with me.

I was told that this is a safety feature.......yea right your driving on the freeway the car looses power and this is a safety feature,,,,,,:bang:

What exactly do you mean by this? Is the car a manual or an auto? If a manual, then everyone drives with two feet. What do you do that is any different to what most people do? Do you left foot brake?

I have heard of cars that will cut the power when the brake is pressed, on the basis that non-racing drivers do not want to be pressing the brake and the accelerator at the same time, and it is therefore safer to cut the power if the brake is applied.

Perhaps you can expand a little on your driving technique.

You need to take the car to a different dealer and take the mechanic out with you in the car and recreate the problem.

This car is both stick or automatic....I drive automatic...... What fiat is trying to say is that I drive with both feet at the same time foot on brake and foot on accelator......this is a lie......I DO NOT DRIVE LIKE THIS.....
when you are driving with just your foot on accelator a red lighting bolt with appear and the car looses ALL POWER.....you can push the accelator all the way to the floor NO POWER......also on the menu screen you can set some of the things one day and the next day they are not set.......example hiil start....WOULD YOU BELIEVE FIAT DEALERSHIP DID NOT KNOW WHAT HILL START WAS........ also ESC dos not work...........when I purchased this car off the showroom floor it had only 12 miles......I left the dealership at 10pm that night the very nect day at 7am in morning taking my grandson to childrens hospital I lost power.......it has been down hill.....ever since...I am just thinking of getting rid of this lemon.....

Sounds as if the American techs need some on site training....i'll start packing my bags (always fancied a few years in the US of A)

It'll probably take a few years trying to get used to your accent. What will you do with the dogs? Maybe Venters will look after them for you ........ for a small fee.

Sounds like it needs a diagnostic and an ECU refresh.

I'm not paying him £12...they come with me. My accent is neutral.
