Well, it appears that the EVIC auto-dims even though the headlights do not.
I was driving just before sunset and I turned on my headlights. The EVIC dims when you do that, but apparently I turned on my headlights a little early and I noticed that the EVIC did NOT dim with the headlight switch on. I went into the shadow of an overpass and the EVIC dimmed. A moment after I emerged back into the sunlight the EVIC brightened.
For a little while I got excited that the headlights could be set to automatic, but I've concluded that the EVIC must have its own ambient light sensor. Bummer.
Confirm?
