Hey guys my car is a 2012 Fiat 500 it is a salvage flood damaged vehicle purchased that way with no factory warranty remaining.

The car doesnt shift into gear all the time. Maybe 1 out of 6 tries it will go into gear. Everything electrical works perfectly in the car and it runs and drives Perfectly when the shifter works one of six tries. I can manually put it into drive from the engine bay.

It has 4,000 miles on the engine. Any help or thoughts on what the problem could be or if it's even fixable? From what I understand its Fresh Water Damage.

mine is also flood salvage, but all electronics are fried. mine is an auto trans. there is a small cap on right side of console at top of netting 6" down from shifter. you remove the small cap and stick a screwdriver in and push. it is an emergency release. you will see a red lever, just push it in. my automatic electronics board is fried. it is located directly below the shifter. good luck! i replaced my BCM, air bag module, instrument cluster, some relays. mine was flooded to the top of the dash. i still need electric power steering electronics board, shifter board, mirror switch. my OBD2 connector still doesn't work either. i still have a short in that circuit.
