Hey
I will be in NYC and Boston during the Xmas and New Year period. I was going to pop in the local Fiat dealers and look at the US spec 500 ...I was wondering if the Abarths maybe in the showrooms during this time - it would be nice

Cheers

Can anyone confirm when the A500 is for sale in the US ? A review mentioned Feb/March 2012 which may explain the delay in advertising on TV. If that is the case I would be surprised to see them in the showrooms. I wonder if they will have a 'Launch model' as they had with the A500 here in 2009 with a particular spec.

Have a good trip and hopefully someone will be able to organise a test drive for you.(y)

Come to London instead and see all the Abarths you like, also less chance of being snowed in and as gift you can pick up free negative vibes from the unwanted Olympics and meet overtaxed people to spoil your hols... only kidding London is a great place to be as we have now snubbed Europe.... have a great time in NYC :D

Actually I was in London about 18 months ago ....

Guess what - I saw quite a few A5oo. I even visited the Flagship store to see about importing one !!!! Saw heaps of then in Paris the week before we arrived in London

After that trip I knew I wanted one !!!!!!!! It was pure lust

Yes, it would be nice but don't think you will see one. The Abarth is supposed to be released in March 2012. If it gets here sooner, great but they haven't even given us a price yet. I think that Christmas & the NA Abarth will be mutually exclusive unfortunately. :(

Cheers

Maybe if Fiat thinks people are getting restless or that the novelty is wearing off they may be inclined(forced) to act.

Some talk here of Fiat perhaps announcing price during the Detroit Auto Show. I think that they are still trying to figure out how much to charge. Sales aren't exactly on fire over here and I believe they are being forced to reconsider what may have been, a very high price.

The one thing that is sure, is that they can only announce the price once, so they are taking as much time as possible to see which way the wind blows.

So, if a delayed price announcement means a lower price, I can wait.:D

Heck, I've had a deposit down since March, what's a few more weeks.

Cheers

Sounds like a few rumors are floating around about price. My dealer has informed me to expect $23,500 but I've also heard $22,500. Honestly either will be fine with me but obviously the lower number would be a bit more lovable :D

Oh, and I'm new to the forum, come from the Subaru community. Can't wait to fill my Subys shoes with the Abarth. March can't come soon enough.

The most reliable info I've heard is $22.500 (plus dest). I've also heard $22,700 which seems less likely since FIAT likes to end their prices in $500 (for obvious reasons). This seems to be the "sweet" spot I think. We'll see very soon now.;)

Just an Update

Just back from the holiday (so much for the crazy notion of a white Xmas)

Anyways - I popped in the Fiat Manhattan showroom for a chat and to pick up a sales brochure. It was mid afternoon weekday. The showroom was surprisingly small with only 3 cars on display. There were 3 sales desks. It was quiet with no other punters in the room. Now what I assume was a salesperson was on the phone - so I waited and waited .... and waited

After about 15 minutes I looked around more actively for for some other sales help. There was a "cashier" looking bored sitting in the corner. There appeared to be two offices open to the showroom with people in them, but I was still waiting

I was surprised that I was not pounced on (like a Fiat showroom here)

After another 5 minutes I gave up and left - I was a bit disappointed to say the least ......but on the up side I saw quite a few 500 buzzing around Manhattan

Wait - there were people there? The "studio" I bought mine from was completely unstaffed, as it was the day before a holiday. They'd simply left the doors open so people could wander about. I had to go to a Chrysler dealer across the street to get a salesperson, who knew almost nothing about the cars.
