Hi, I'm having issues with my dualogic on my new 500 (130 miles on clock )

in auto mode it refuses to change into third however manual mode is fine. The changes in manual even if I don't take my foot off the accelarator are pretty smooth so what gives with auto mode

it's been like this since day I picked it up..... or two days ago

surely this should've been picked up during the PDI FFS. Now the car has to go into the shop for 2 days they have told me. If it's the same guy who did the PDI I'm not exactly confident.

Which model 500 is this? I was under the impression that Dualogic 500s were not yet available - 1.2 version to start build in April, 1.4 in May.

Ordered my car mid January 08 and picked it up on Sunday but my experience so far I would advise anyone against it I'm afraid. I'm just back from dropping it off at the main dealer and I'm far from impressed with their professionalism  I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt if they fix ALL the problems I'll forgive.

Very hard to PDI a gearbox, without taking it for a couple of hundred miles run, and then incurring the anger of the buyer who wants to know why his car has miles on the clock...if you see what I mean.

I have seen these things in Pandas, and understand that, with the appropriate welly, they can work.

They are not the conventional sludge-sliders though, so if you are used to ordinary autos, you'll surprised. Unless the thing really is buggered, in which case: hallo Fiat!

Have you seen this thread yet? https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto-technical/136319-duologic-problem-again-2.html

Might help..

And they can't possibly pick up every fault during PDI - otherwise we would all be driving around a faultless car, which is simply not acceptable for a Fiat

And they can't possibly pick up every fault during PDI
Especially if it wasn't there at PDI.

Every fault, no matter how trivial or how serious, starts at some point, so this fault could quite easily have developed during the drive home from the dealership.

I know it's almost impossible for some people to comprehend, but not every fault that ever occurs on a car can be attributed to or blamed on the dealership that supplied it!

Hello people,

I have just ordered fiat 500 with dualogic and to be honest from the moment i've read the problems i am thinking of canceling my choice and choose manual (if its not too late...ordered it on Friday).

thats all I'll say to you mate. Mileage starting flashing to-day for no apparent reason stopped after a stop and restart (thats what you get when you trust microsoft I suppose) It really is spoiling a what should be a good car. :bang:

Stop scaremongering please...whats microsoft got to do with it!!

He's right about Microsoft though - its the source of all evil

(Hope my boss doesn't read this - can't afford to be fired..)

Did you ever get to the bottom of it not changing gears, as I have just bought mine. at first I was told it was a software update that Fiat was aware of, now I am told that there is nothing wrong with it, they had a Fiat man come out and look at it and he told them that it is normal that it won't change gears 2nd to 3rd if I accelerate and that I have to do it manually, I am considering rejecting the car as I bought it as an automatic and if I cannot do that then that is not what it is described at. Its a shame really as I love the car

Sounds to me as if you didn't really do your research on the car beforehand.

I you are really hard on the accelerator with the dualogic It does tend to go red lining but it will eventually change gear before the pistons start to come out form the bonnet!!
At least in mine does it in the first 3 gears!!:)

how would we get the car in to 3rd from 2nd in full auto mode, do we need to to drop the accelerator slightly for it to go in, or do we need to manually shift ourselves? in most autos tho u need to lift off slightly to get a decent change when u need it
