Just finished rebuilding a small number of excellent Weber 28IMB carbs that had been in store for over 35 years. Message me if interested.

I just rebuilt my 28 and during the process I noticed it didn’t have the filter and screw above the fuel line nipples. It isn’t missing but was manufactured without it. You can see it in this photo. Is this an issue? Does it mean the carb isn’t an original Weber?

That is one of the later repro carbs. Some were made under license in Spain and some were of a reasonable quality I believe but some fakes have been made in China and have been a source of problems.
What does it say on the main body?

On the choke side it says Weber with the W logo below
The other side says:
Weber

Pretty much all of the new ones on eBay look exactly like that with no country of origin shown or made under licence. Strangely despite coming from various countries in Europe they all have splodges of blue paint over the logo etc on the top cover. Ricambio are selling the same carb but with minimal description and one very sketchy picture.
