Morning All

I was listening to a chasin the racin podcast lately with guest Steve Parish (Stavros) who is an ambassador for a company called classic fuel solutions. And it got me thinking about my 500.

This fuel is developed for the old engines as to how it would have ran originally before the latest watered down fuel was the only alternative to use, with a splash on lead replacement added in.

If i reverted to using this alternative fuel, is it likely to cause problems, due to the car being run on modern day petrol for the last couple of years?

Link for the website for anyone wanting a look:

Any thoughts?

Chris

What I do with old tech engines is to add a small amount of 2T engine oil
to the fuel tank, about a egg cup full for every gallon, now I don't know if
this helps but I have never over many thousands of miles had a problem
nor do a really know if it helps but it make me feel better.

Well, it's very expensive and rated at 105 octane. Maybe a bit high for the little fella's low compression engine not sure any benefit there.

Also, if you only run on this fuel, you'll never take your 500 anywhere, as your fuel supply is only at home. Unless you trailer a drum around with you :D

I think your concerns are around degrade of components due to the dreaded E in newer based fuels.

Me, I try to fill up on low % E content pumps. But other than that, I'm not too bothered about it. If something wears / breaks, then I'll fix it.

According to their website, the Esso 'Super' in most areas in the UK is Ethanol- free---it is in my area of North Wales. However, i still add the appropriate "anti-ethanol" gunge in to my fuel. The Tesco and Morrisons 97/98 octane fuel DOES have in it. Again according to their web-site, the top Shell fuel is also Ethanol-free

Hi Chris, check out the Millers Oils site for VSPe - raises the octane by up to 2 points protects against Ethanol up to E10 and helps keep the fuel 'good' amongst other things. I bung it in with Tesco Momentum (99 ron) the engine loves it (y)(y)(y)

Hi ian

Thanks for the tip. Does this stuff do additional jobs to the likes of redex lead replacement additive?
