:worship: I have installed a new brake reservoir and brake fluid hose on my 500L and I have brake fluid that runs down the backside of the hose from the reservoir into the front compartment and then on down to the floor. I've tried different hoses and clamps on the top of the hose, but I can't figure out why the brake fluid keeps leaking. This is driving me nuts! :bang::bang: Any suggestions would greatly be welcome.

Possibly the hose type. I learned the hard way, that petrol pipe bleeds brake fluid.

I know that it is a new reservoir, but check that the outlet where you attach the hose to the master cylinder isn't broken. If the hose is the correct type, is fully 'on' and the pipe clamp is done up tight, the only other place there can be a leak is the reservoir itself.

What is the correct "type" hose that is best to use from the reservoir to the master cylinder? Maybe I have been using the wrong type. No leaks at master cylinder connection. Thanks for your response.

Thanks for your input, will try a type different brake hose.

You will need hose specifically for 'brake fluid' Being that you live in the USA (but I don't know where) your best bet might be to contact a company called:--"Midwest-Bayless" ([email protected] ---+01-614-784 8870). They specialise in classic Fiat and Lancia, and some years ago (2014) bought out an old Abarth dealer. Being that the Fiat X1/9 also has a remote brake-fluid reservoir, they need a "brake-fluid resistant" hose between the reservoir and the master cylinder---Midwest-Bayless should be able to supply what you need.
There are 2 sizes of 'brake-fluid' hose used on the Fiat X1/9---6mm internal bore for the 1300cc version and 7.3mm internal bore for the 1500cc version. I suspect that you will need the 6mm bore hose, but check before you contact 'Midwest'. My contact there (in 2014) was a gent called Matt.
