Delighted to help if we can---what make of electronic ignition are you fitting?

I am hoping to get some help from the forum regarding electronic ignition.

Got an engine from the supplier and received this ignition kit but without instruction as to installation.

Has anyone successfully installed this kit in their 500? mine was a 69.

This system looks very like the Fiat 'Factory' Nannoplex system

Looks like a interesting kit. First thing that stands out though is the ignition module. Looks like a common Bosch 124 series module. Atleast its a easy part to get at a local autoparts incase of a breakdown.

This is an APE 20FF ECU module, alternative to Magneti Marelli Nanoplex system used in Fiat 126 ELX but it has a better and faster Mapping. Use this Diagram attached. Pins 3 and 6 going to the vacuum switch. 1 and 5 to the pulse sensor. 4 and 7 to the ignition coil (small yellow rubber plug. Now your pulley must have three nothes that sensor can read, i can see those three metal pieces there and i guess you have to weld them in specific places at your pulley, if i am guessing correct this is very difficult to do. Alternative there is a special ring for that reason that can be found in Poland! Do you actually have this system in hand?

Thanks gordinir and everybody's reply.

The engine was purchased from Mr. Fiat in Atlanta, took long enough to ship over and another few months sitting until recently. Then we realize the ignition system was one of these rather than the old dizzy set up.

Funny enough, we finally got the engine to fire up yesterday, same day you reply to our plea. Now that we are curious with how to set timing as the engine has minor backfire when backing off throttle.

That's good news, this red ECU module you have has a 10 degrees BTDC advance thought backfiring comes mostly from carburettor. You can adjust sensor position up and down to bring it where it operates better. I'm in that process right now with my nanoplex ignition and trying to set it in the optimum point.
