While the weather is still crappy, one of the projects I'm undertaking on little Martina is some button modernization (in this style) and incorporation of hazard lights. I didn't want to go with one of those aftermarket bulky add-on kits - I wanted to make it a clean, 'supposed to be there' look. To that end, I decided DIY was the only way to go. Since I didn't want to drill an extra hole in the dash, I decided to remove the speedo light switch and hardwire that bulb to the lights themselves. Seems silly to have an independent switch for instrument lighting.
Anyhow... after much research and planning, it's done! Sorta. I'm still waiting on my dash switches in the mail, but the hazards themselves work as intended. Here's the video of the initial op check:
Fiat Hazard Lights
Attached is a wiring schematic showing how I did it for anyone wanting to give it a go. Fear not, it's not too difficult. I only had to rewire it once (lol). It's still not as clean as I'd like under the hood, but I think the only way to really fix that once and for all is a new, modern harness... which will have to wait until I restore the body. I don't want to go through all the work of installing it, then have to rip it all out to strip the body only to have to put it back in. Once only please.
