Curious if anyone knows of anyone selling any polyurethane bushings for the 500? It probably wouldn't be difficult to find generic ones for the leaf spring eyes, but more particularly I'm looking for transmission mounts and front/rear control arm bushings.

Seeing how ubiquitous they are for classic cars in the US, it seems *someone* would have a similar offering for euro-only cars.

Personally, I would stick with the rubber bushes Matt--the 500 suspension is a bit on the 'lumpy' side as it is, Fitting 'poly-bushes' would make it VERY harsh. However, if you MUST go that way, POWERFLEX could probably, given the neccesary dimensions, be able to help you.

Tom, I’m mostly interested in an improved transmission mount, but curious about the others. The trans mounts are just a poor design, and I think there’s room for improvement using rubber le poly. I’ve debated using my spares and buying some of the ‘pour your own’ kits to see what I could come up with.

I think that would be a much better idea than 'poly-bushes'. This uprated mount will still allow a little bit of gearbox movement, whereas the 'poly' versions would not.

Interesting. I haven't seen that before. Looks like a nice piece of kit. Pricey, but nice. While there, I'm reminded I don't have the 500R gearbox support that runs lengthwise on the car.

The real flaw in the design is the lack of any 'teeth' in the rubber. The mount is basically reliant on the rubber bonding to a fairly flat surface on both the transmission and crossmember sides. If there were some exposed thread or some other gripping surface on the rubber side, you'd see far fewer torn/sheared mounts. I might play with 'upgrading' my spares and pouring my own rubber.

Thanks gents.
