So the car has been running fine but after my last trip I started getting it ready to put away for the winter. I had it parked outside for a week on a slight incline. I noticed a very large puddle of oil in the driveway. Previously it might leave a tiny drip on the garage floor and nothing more. I know I have leaking driveshaft boots that I was getting ready to tackle but this was a LOT of oil. I moved it back into the garage where it is still leaking lots of oil and the oil reeks of fuel. Fuel in the crankcase? I can’t think of any way it could get into the transmission case.

The only way that I can think of is if the needle-valve (in the carbs float-chamber) has stuck open and the fuel has therfore flooded the carb which has overflowed into the crankcase/sump.

That actually sounds more sensible---need to engage the 'little grey cells' BEFORE breakfast, not after it!

Well lucky for me I have a new fuel pump waiting already. I guess that project got moved up.

For a standard 500, any high quality 20/50 will suffice. Matt's choice of the Castrol variety is good as you will get.
