My work rebuilding distributors continues and I now have a spare complete 500 distributor. I already had a complete spare one so if anyone needs one let me know. I also have a clear “see through” distributor cap I bought from Italy years ago and an original distributor cover in excellent condition.

I really like the clear dist cap, great for fault finding in-situ. Alas, you can't get a clear cap for the R 594cc engine. . .

Maybe time to find someone with a 3D printer?.....
As regards the metal inserts and carbon brush holder, might it be possible to copy a complete R 594cc distributor cap exactly in a suitable clear plastic material, then bore recesses and transfer the metal parts from a standard dist. cap?

Yes for some reason they only made these in a number of see through plastic colours for the 500 and Giardiniera. I used the blue one I had. Odd considering the number of 500R and 126 cars that were made. I will post this one for £10 if anyone is interested ?
I have gone as far as I can with the distributors and came up just short on a few small parts. Rebuilt using either new or good used parts I have the a complete 500 one, 3 complete 500R/126 ones and two almost complete. If anyone else is needing parts to restore one they have then I also have loads of spares mainly for the later ones including new points, rotor arms, distributor caps. Can also make more Tufnol thrust washers for the spindle which you can’t buy. Have a spare new Accuspark Electronic ignition set which I could fit to one of the distributors.
