After painting the dash on my L I thought it only right to fit new knee bump strips. The ones it came with were an original small and newer rubber larger one. ?

The new ones came from Holland because they were the only supplier to have a colour code on interior parts. The parts arrived looking good.
The larger part fits existing holes to new bolts. However the smaller strip has the bolt nearest steering column 55mm offset to hole !!! ?
To make it fit means drilling new hole in dash.

Just wanted to know if this was normal ?

I think that you will find that nearly all the 'knee bump strips' are for L/H drive cars--is your car R/H drive or L/H drive?

Sent email to Dutch supplier and had a reply not bad considering it's Sunday afternoon!!!
They say it is correct part and not unusual to have to make a new hole for fitting.
I don't really have any choice.
Any thoughts on this ?

It's the ususal thing with many of these spares...you either take it or leave it. But that size of discrepancy is inexcusable.

Rather than drill a new hole I would cut off the existing wrong stud, and if these are the more modern, expanded-foam knee-pads, you might be better setting a replacement with epoxy adhesive into the correct place. The earlier pads on my car are made of thin steel covered in cheap vinyl; on these it would be possible to weld or braze on a new stud.

The smaller strip I removed was an original paper thin steel with a bit of foam and vinyl.
Thought Id put some pictures up just to show what quality £60 gets you.

1st is the strip in place one bolt lines up the other is not in the same street !?*♂️
2nd shows back of strip and why the bolt can't be repositioned, there is a large void which can only be for expansion!?*♂️

To be honest I do not possess the talent to move bolt and braze so drilling a new hole is the only for me.
Thank you for taking the time to respond people much appreciated ??
