When I wind the drivers window down the window winder mechanism comes out of the runner leaving the window stuck fully down in the open position. I replaced the window winder mechanism with a new on as I thought the fault may have been caused by a worn part. I fitted the new mechanism but the fault still occurs. Am I missing something? Is there supposed to be something to stop the winder coming off the runner?

Now I have replaced the window winder mechanism I am struggling to get the winder handle back on due to the fiddly clip; any tips?

100% agree very fiddly circlip type clip, when I removed mine i just fit the clip half way on to the handle with the clip just about to close but not all the way on , then with a small flat screwdriver after you push the handle on just push the clip into the closed position, I normally fit the clip opposite the handle. If your lucky as you push the handle on the clip will spring into place. It might be worth making a hook from an old electrical screwdriver for removing in the future. Also don't forget fit the chrome ring before Re fitting the handle i made that mistake!. Best of luck

If the window mechanism is coming out of the lowerrunner, it could be that the 'stop' (which prevents the window dropping down to far) is either bent or missing. The for and aft runners do have a bit of in/out adjustment as well, but it does sound as if the window is going down too far.

6 years ago. I don’t think there was a 100% agreement but I went with the same as you. Pointing up to the corner of the door card seemed the most popular choice. 10 o’clock or 2 o’clock depending which door you’re looking at.
It's an important and often trivialised detail and one of the few in which I am completely correct. ;). What people do with 500s other than blue ones is completely up to them and irrelevant anyway. ;)
