Re: Rauksternīs 500F -65 rebuild

The chances of you finding a 500 inner wing are remote (but well done if you can!) If you have to fit a 126 inner wing on one side you really need to do it on both sides as the top wishbone and the cross-bar it attaches to are different 500 vis-a-vie 126. The shape of the inner wing is such that it is not really possible to fit the 'wrong' cross-bar to the 'wrong' inner wing. I think that I have a spare (2nd hand) set of 126 top wishbones and cross-bar if you need them---I will look in my 'parts dept' today and let you know.

Hi Tom,
I meant the outer inner arch. Youīre talking about the Wheel housing right? It seems right as you say, they are available for 126, but sold for 500īs aswell.

Re: Rauksternīs 500F -65 rebuild

Does anyone know if the piece encircled in the picture is available as replacement metal? I canīt find it anywhere.

I know the internal A-pillar is om the market (se pic), but its the piece on top of it I need. As you see, its rotted good.

Re: Rauksternīs 500F -65 rebuild

So, finally time for the blasters.

Loaded it last night with the help of a few friends, two would have been enough
as You lift it easily on two
Itīs with nervous curiosity I await the result of this. Maybe I will be left with nothing but a beautiful garden sculpture

Time will tell.

Also had to move the Spider, wich is allways a treat

Re: Rauksternīs 500F -65 rebuild

Itīs been a bit quiet in this thread, for a change The car is still at the blasters and the wait is torture...

So I have a question for you, while I wait.

For you with extended experience of the 500; Is there anything you think should have been done with the 500 from the start, from factory, that FIAT dropt the ball on?
Iīm in the unique situation to be able to do almost any improvement to mine, as it is stripped to the bone

High and low, let me know!

/Seb

Re: Rauksternīs 500F -65 rebuild

Time to lift this thread... at last something is happening

The blaster finally got to my car and some pic got sent to me today. I have some bit crossed out, that he doesnīt need to go over, since they are going to be replaces.

Byt do anyone have a reason why he shouldnīt go over the painted parts that are good? (the blue spots still on the car)

Just as well to do it all, or no?

/Seb

Re: Rauksternīs 500F -65 rebuild

Personally Seb, unless you are COMPLTELY sure that that there is nothing hiding under the 'blue' bits (small dents, filler etc.) I would get the whole lot blasted. If nothing else, it is a good, sound foundation for paint.

There's no way I'd dream of leaving that. It's just not worth the risk. Blast it and be sure you have a good base.

He'll be concerned about distorting the panels.
