Tuning Abart 595 conversion kit is back

The kit is being marketed through "FCA Classiche" and consists of:--barrels, pistons, camshaft, valve-springs, 3-1/2 litre ally sump, 28IMB Weber carb, exhaust and a variety of badges. It is not cheap, but comes with an "Approved"
certificate from"Abarth Classiche". If you want to find out more, look on:--"Fiat 500 Abarth Classiche 595 conversion kit--FCA Heritage". I reckon from what I have read, there won't be much difference between the performance of a car with this Kit and a STANDARD 650.

I agree with you Tom, for 2000 euros it is not worth except for the Abarth approval which i can live without it.

Whilst in "lock down" I have been looking at my previous business ideas "Original patina in a can", and various "go faster add-ons" : special tape for making the "Rally Crosses" on headlights....

I am more than willing to supply an Abarth Sticker with an Approval Certificate... I am willing to sign it and state it is approved for sticking on a car... although there would of course be no guarantee that if the car is driven or gets wet the sticker will come off...

Almost as good as many other "official Certificates floating arround for £50+ a time...

Forgot to mention before, already have abarth badges in my car, one even on the floor Mat and yes it feels faster.?

It's not all about outright performance for everyone. With this kit and the other enhancements available and a great deal of attention to detailing you could presumably make an Abarth modified car created in exactly the same way that I assume many standard 500s were created "back in the day".

Looking at some of the very expensive but beautifully machined sh**te that is available as upgrade options for these cars, the relative restraint and simplicity of this kit seems quite appealing to me.....no I won't be buying it, just in case you wondered.

I agree with you Peter---the quality of the kit will not be in any doubt and yes, it is probably replicating what was done to standard 500s back in the days you could still buy a 500 new; very similar to what we did at Radbourne Racing, only with NARDI parts. However, it is still expensive!

Think there are still things to consider, even with this kit.

For example 'blue printing' - working with Automotive Services in Northampton, Simon would select a pair of con rods from a group of a dozen (ish) find the best examples and balance 'end to end' and together. He'd also change the balance factor - 'crank balancing'. The original 500 & 126 ports weren't cast so well for gas flow and could be significantly opened up (porting), then gas flow drilled.

Once you begin to blueprint and tune and engine, the best way to determine final jet selection and ignition settings (I have always used a 123 ignition distributor), is on the rolling road. It doesn't matter what jets I select they'll be changed during tuning.

In my opinion that kit has very reasonable price tag when you think what all you get.
