Hi All

I have recently fitted the Premium fiat 500 disc brake system (front only) from Axel.(Part 23063/5)

This system comes with an upgraded double circuit master cylinder. (Part 23469) of which I can’t get the front brake circuit to bleed. I have fitted the double circuit brake fluid reservoir but can only get the rear brake circuit to bleed.

Has anyone on this forum installed this system before and run into issues?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry forgot to include photos of it. IMG_9367.JPGIMG_9074.JPG

Did you check that both pistons were free to move in the dual master cylinder.
Fiat used to include a warning in their m/cyl packaging to check this on new master cylinders before fitting, they used to recommend stripping the m/cyl and cleaning all parts in clean brake fluid or isopropyl alcohol? if the cyl had been a long time in storage.

Assuming that nothing is sticking in the new master cyl., you might have to resort to attempting to bleed using a vacuum or pressure brake bleeder.

Sometimes a bleed using only gravity will work if there is enough vertical separation between the m/cyl. and brake callipers. If you have neither vacuum/pressure bleeding equipment available to you, maybe try removing the brake callipers and lowering them as far as possible to allow gravity to assist in bleeding the lines, alternatively try raising the callipers higher than the m/cyl. outlets and operating the brake pedal might help.

Are you even getting some fluid out of the front brake outlets with the unions slackened and the brake pedal operated?. If not try removing the unions -fluid should flow out under gravity. If no flow, I'd suspect that the piston in the master cyl. that feeds the front brakes is stuck in position.

Al.

Years ago when i had a mini and had to bleed the brakes on my own, I made a bleeder which took pressure from the tyres. Get a spare brake reservoir cap and a nozzle like those that come with a tube of silicon. Drill a hole in the cap and insert the nozzle fully , connect the other end to a tyre inflating valve. Then connect both to the tyre and reservoir and you'll have constant pressure in the brake system for bleeding.

to all
Could someone help me I'm searching for the complete brake lines for the fiat 500l 1971 to set up
Unfortunately the fitted ones have destroyed and I don't have a "guide" to make new ones
Thank you in advance

F.D.Ricambi + Axel Gerstl + Van de Laan 500 all make complete brake-hose kits, often in either copper or steel. The copper piping is much easier to work around bends. Some of the kits come complete with the relevant flexible hoses as well.
