I've had a problem with my sunroof vinyl tearing on either side where it meets the edge of the frame.

These edges are quite sharp and I think I'll order another vinyl, refit and pad the edges before attaching the vinyl.

Has anyone else had this problem and what was the fix?

I'm thinking either rubber, sponge or half a plastic tube along the edge.

Hi Fiona

Thanks, good advice. However, I already have that part fitted. Also, that's not the edge I'm concerned about. It's the left and right front corners of the folding frame.

I know what you mean.. many repro parts have sharp edges.. and even a touch witha file or grinder may not help that much....
foam or such may degrade or be too think...

but I had a thought... I think it is Eastwoods or some company that sell all the resto and tools sort of stuff...
they do a tin of rubber/pvc type coating that you dip pilers and screwdrivers in to create a non slip coating on the handles...
this may be thin enough not to show but add a softer edge so as not to cut the material...
