In the world of competition sport, you've missed the point slightly.

In navigational rallying you need the biggest, brightest LED work light.

That fitted, for events only, with a dash switch, will not only allow you to see where you are going after a wrong slot, but will also allow you to blind any fellow competitor following too closely.

I'm not yet so obsessed with navigational events that this is all about that. I've dealt with the forward view reasonably well as in this old post: https://www.fiatforum.com/500-classic/447544-spotty-fiat-500-a.html

We tried the last 12-car rally in Sheila's modern Fiat 500 with standard lights etc. and it was fine. the weakness was my stomach. She can drive her own car with more confidence and turns out to be really competitive. As a novice I couldn't keep up with her on the map-reading etc. and anyway, my head was out of the car quite frequently.:yuck: It didn't help that we'd had Cullen Skink (a smoked-haddock soup) immediately before the event.

So the poorer the front illumination the more likely I am to get a smooth ride and some thinking-time.;)

Peter, I feel for you having navigated for a madman in a group 4 Escort in the day :eek::eek: I'm sure he had a death wish (n)(n)
However, when you are head down in the map or tulip try to have a constant cold air flow over your face and look up more than you think you should, but don't roll your head fully back as it will probably make you feel worse (n)(n)
I used pressure bands worn on the wrist and for me they worked even in the middle of a night time special stage (y)(y)
