hi everyone,

This is my first post so just wanted to say hello! I recently bought a Fiat 500 F and I'm aiming to restore it in my spare time (when I get it). I'm sure I'll have 100s of stupid questions to ask during the process - I plan to do as much of the work as I can myself.

I've already found the site to be really helpful and enjoyed reading the various threads on other peoples' restorations.

Hello John and welcome to the forum. This place is full of information of 'how to do' and 'where from' threads.....as well as a vast amount of knowledge...…...and some is actually useful

Some say use the 'search' function (my pet hate), it is really good and to be fair on this forum as when you type in the title of your thread it will give you a drop down box with titles similar to the one you are typing which is worth a look...…...However I say just ask the question, interactivity is far better than soulless post searching...……..

Pic's would be great when you get your car and also your location, we are dotted all around the UK (and indeed the world!!) and there may be someone local you can call on in time of need.:)

Thank you!

I noticed that thread drop down box and managed to find a few related threads when I posted my first one. It's good that each new thread is categorised as well.

I will be sure to upload some photos when I get the car and when I get to make some progress. Based in Hertfordshire, U.K. here (but a northerner at heart...).

Welcome Hans...er... John! :)

Relatively new to the forum too and have found the search function helpful. Please just ask questions and let us help you as much as we can. I am restoring my 1970 500L to something yet-to-be-determined. Some form of Giannini / Abarth Frankenstein :)

I have to be honest, the few questions I've posted have had a very tepid response, so I am doing some soul-searching on whether I am asking questions the correct way. Maybe you will have better luck. But if its something I can help with, rest assured I'll be posting your wey! There are a handful of people on the site, who have broad and deep knowledge on this. You'll get to know who they are soon.

Best of luck to you with the car...post pics and keep us informed on your progress.

Welcome and good luck! Mine was restored inside and out and I can tell you that these little cars bring a lot of joy to you and others that see it. :)

Sometime the forum is rather quiet... some people are working away in the garage other simply are too busy...
but mostly questions do get answered... (or have been answered before.. a "How to" feature would be good but don't think it is easy to implement with the system being used)

There are a few BIG threads regarding peoples restorations.. these are a great way to start... But also understand some people like the idea of restoring the worst possible rust bucket... and then start again on another one...
So don't let the sight of BG holes put you off...

Thanks Bigvtwin996. Yeah I am going to ask the questions as they come up. The search function is very valuable. I spend a lot of time parsing the posts and really coming up empty for the amount of time spent on it. But yes I do understand people are busy and the forum goes through lulls.

What might be of help to you John is if we knew where about in the UK you reside. By knowing this, there will most probably be a Forum member in your area who can help you, and where/when needed encourage you. There will be times during the restoration when you will need some encouragement, and most probably, another pair of hands.
