Hi all

I have a 1969 500f and noticed some leak of oil from around the spark plug where they seat into the block only one side.

Took the plug out and solemn oil there too I’ve read there are some gaskets here but would t know what they’d be called any idea on how easy to change??? And what they’d be called?

Happy Friday and thanks again

The only way that I can think that oil can be leaking around the spark plug area is if the rocker gasket is leaking, and the oil then runs down into the spark plug apertures. When, and if, you do replace the rocker cover gasket, use the 'rubberoid' variety, and NOT the cork variety--which can split if the rocker cover nuts are done up even a little bit too tight. When fitting a new rocker cover gasket, replace the fibre washers that go under the securing nuts (in the order---fibre washer--flat washer--nut) and make sure that the rocker cover is sitting evenly on top of the cylinder head as in not catching on the engine shrouding.

Not a difficult job at all---only tool required is a 13mm spanner.
