Hello guys- I am new here and just looking for some advice!

I purchased a second fiat 500 1.2 Lounge 3 months ago, and I love her! Her name is Frankie and we are very happy together :)

But.... she obviously has the stop/start function which i am aware I can deactivate, but generally I forget as if I want it deactivated I have to do so every time I get in the car, which first thing in the morning is more than my little brain can handle.

2 days after getting the car the S/S kicked in when I was in traffic on a bend and never having encountered it in previous cars, i was momentarily blindsided and panicked and swiftly decided that until i felt more confident, I would keep it deactivated. I would forget occasionally, but S/S didn't seem to kick in over the next few weeks. Having come on these forums for a nosey, I simply assumed that it didn't kick in due to weather/heater being on/short journeys etc. and wasn't overly concerned. Might be worth noting that this was the only time in the last 3 months that the S/S has kicked in for a prolonged (standard?!) period of time.

Skip to the last 4-6 weeks, the S/S, if still activated, does kick in occasionally but almost as soon as the engine cuts out, the engine kicks back in. I would say within less that 10/15 seconds- as far as I am aware I am not activating it to do this myself. (although I am still a little confused as to how it all actually works!)

I've been reading through the forums and other S/S threads, and all seem to point to the battery being the issue, but I can't find a thread with my exact problem, so unsure if this is the actual issue or if I might be missing something (if there is one that I have missed - happy to be pointed in the right direction). I could just take it to a garage for their opinion, but I'm not overly trusting of them and their advice (and the costs that follow) so thought this may be the best place to start. Any help/advice will be very much appreciated- TIA Emma and Frankie ;)

I think you are in the wrong part of the forum here...….

This is for the old classic 500's where stop starting is purely because they are old...….like us...…

Apologies!!!
I’m sure you’re not old at all... just well matured ;)
