I always had this problem even from my 500cc days. Same with the 650, became louder when i put my sporty exhaust and even louder when i wrap the exhaust with titanium insulation because the pipes are running hotter now. Ok it might be fun, people thinking something big is coming but then Do you have similar issues?

Just recently I started to get a bit of this when going downhill with foot off the gas. After reading up on it I decided it was insufficient air, with the throttle on minimum but a bit of forced fuel induction with the engine having to go fairly fast with little load.
So turning up the tickover screw a bit to let in some air seems to eliminate the problem.

Peter you mean the screw with the spring or the small idle brass screw?

The screw that keeps the throttle flap from being completely closed. Try it slightly more open (screwed in). Obviously that creates faster idle speed but may reduce the popping.

Yes i have done it just to have better cooling and I saw some improvement. I also reduced advance a little. I think it is acceptable, besides little car sounds like a beast with my sports exhaust on!

To me. Engine popping is not a problem. The more the merrier :slayer
