Hello. Apologies if this was already asked/answered.

The speedometer currently in my car (500D) is a metal one that attaches to the car with threaded studs (it is not a "clip-on"). I noticed that the wiring diagram that came with the car indicates a terminal #31 - it appears to be ground for the panel light and parking light bulbs?

My speedometer does not have a #31 . Is there a correct location where the ground wires are intended to be connected to? Also, if the speedo is metal and already in contact with the car, do I even need these two wires (or is the rubber gasket preventing a ground?)?

Grateful for any advice.

Thanks in advance.

I have just completed the retiring of my 1964D. The earth for the speedo can be attached to one of the two mounting studs then running n to a common earring point. A good earth is critical for this to work... IMG_0673.JPG

Thank you for the response! I had it wedged between the speedometer gasket and body of the speedo - that also seemed to have worked. I'm sure it'll eventually slide out so I'll try attaching it to the mounting stud as shown on your picture.

Thanks again.
